JOHN CLULEE, OF WALLINGFORD, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR TO THE SIMPSON HALL MILLER 8; COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A HANDLE FOR SPOONS, FORKS, 84,0.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 28,525, dated May 3, 1898.
Application filed February 8, 1898. Serial No. 669,592. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JOHN CLULEE, of Wallingford, in the county of New Haven and State-of Connecticut, have invented a new Design for a Handle for Spoons, Forks, &c.; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawing constitutes part of this specification and represents a face View of a handle embodying my design.
This invention relates to a design for the ornamentation of the handle of spoons, forks, &c.; and the design consists in the configuration and ornamentation of the handle as herein shown and described.
As herein shown, the handle expands from the inner end outward and is surmounted by a trefoil ornamentation composed of a central floral tip A and two reversely-curved scrolls B B. From the inner end of the handle the surface is ornamented by reverselyturned scrolls C 0, following the edge and expanding slightly to the center of the handle, where they meet short reverse outwardly-expanding scrolls D D. From the scrolls D D the handle expands in width and is bordered by reversely-curved scrolls E E, the inner ends of which extend inward and indent the upper end of a plain panel B, which extends throughout the length of the handle. Between the edge of the panel and the scrolls E the surface of the handle is ornamented by a strip of heading G, following the outline of the upper end of the panel, and narrow strips of hatching H, all as shown in the accompanying illustration.
I claim- The design for the handle of spoons, forks, and similar articles as herein shown and de scribed.
In testimony whereof I have signed this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
JOHN CLULEE.
