DESIGN FOR A SPOON OR FORK HANDLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 13,981, dated June 12, 1883. Application filed April 2.7, 1883. Term of patent 7 years.
To all 'whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FREDERICK WATER- HOUsE, of Wallingford, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Design for a Spoon or Fork Handle; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the saine, and which said drawing constitutes part of this specification, and represents a face view of the handle.
This invention relates to a design for the ornamentation of spoons, forks, andlike articles of table-service; and it consists in the orna- Inentation of the surface of the handle, as shown in the accompanying illustration and more fully hereinafter described. The handle gradually expands from the bowl toward the end and terminates in a seglnent shape, the edge of the handle bordered by a plain bead. About midway of the length of the handle is a rose ornament, a. On the face of the handle, within the bead and above the rose, is a plain shield, h, and from this shield springs a tracery of scroll-work both upward and downward, and in the tracery above the shield is the representation of a dragon, as shown in the accompanying illustration.
I claim- The herein-described design for a spoon or fork handle, consisting of the gradually-expanding handle, segment-shaped at the top, its edge bordered by a plain bead, and on the face a plain shield, b, with a scroll-work tracery springing from the shield both upward and downward, and the representation of a dragon in the tracery above the shield, as shown and described.
