LEATHER-DRESSING.

Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed April 23, 1910. Serial No. 557,274.
Patented June 6, 1911 To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS A. DRAKE,
residing at Jersey City, in the county of Hudson and State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Leather-Dressings, of which the following is a specification.
This mvention relates to improvements in leather dressings and embraces the preparation of a compound capable of improving the finish of power belts or for waterproof- One form of the invention consists in uniting the following elements or ingredients:-
Boiled linseed oil 8 ounces.
Mutton tallow 8 ounces. Yellow beeswax 8 ounces. Parafl'in oil 8 ounces. Common rosin 4 ounces.
The above elements are placed in a water and air tight vessel and steam cooked until thoroughly dissolved and united. This preparation forms a soft paste and serves to Waterproof leather.
Another form of the invention consists of the following-preparation Beeswax 2 ounces. Boiled linseed oil; 6 ounces. Parafiin oil 6 ounces. Gum thus 7 ounces. Lard oil 6 ounces. Castor oil 6 ounces. Menhaden oil 6 ounces.
The above elements are placed in a water and air tight vessel and fused by steam. The compound is useful for belt dressing.
Another form of the invention consists of the following elements Gum thus 8 ounces. Lard oil 4 ounces. Castor oil 4 ounces. Menhaden oil 4 ounces.
Parafiin oil 4 ounces.
Beeswax 8 ounces. Boiled linseed oil 4 ounces. Commom rosin 8 ounces. Petrolatum 3 ounces. Beef tallow 3 ounces.
The above elements are placed in a water .and air tight vessel and fused by steam.

What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. A leather dressing comprising gum thus, lard oil, castor oil, menhaden oil, pan aflin oil, beeswax and linseed oil, united by heat.
2. A leather dressing containing" gum thus and menhaden oil.
3. A leather dressing containing gum thus,
menhaden oil and suitable oils, united by heat.
4. A leather dressing containing suitable oils, waxes,petrolatum, menhaden oil and gum thus.
