To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that 1, CHARLES LINDEMANN, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York city, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sign and Picture Frames; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

The present invention is in the nature of an improved sign and picture frame, and relates more particularly to a device of this characterembodying novel features of construction whereby a sign card can be put up and displayed without the necessity of nailing or; otherwise marring the same.

The; object of the invention is the provision of a sign and picture frame which is comparatively simple and inexpensive in its constructiombwhich can be easily and quickly secured to any suitable support, and which will eflectively hold a card or picture and display the same to the best advantage.

With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in certain combinations and arrangements of the parts as will more fully appear as the description proceeds, the novel features thereof being pointed out in the appended claims.

Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the following description and indicated in all the views of the drawing by the same reference characters.

The base of the sign and picture frame embodied in the present invention consists of two complemcntal sections 1 and 2, as will be apparent from an inspection of the drawing. It will thus be apparent that the ends of the card engaging flanges 7 and 10 carried by the two base sections have a telescoping connection with each other so as to eii'ectively protect the card even should the sections 1 and 2 of the base be slightly spaced from each other. The lower portion of the card is first placed between the card engaging flange 7 and the back of the lower section; and its upper portion is then placed between the card engaging flange 10 and the back of the upper section, the two sections then being held inoperative position by means of the nuts 5. It will be clearly seen from the foregoing description that the card 8 is securely held in position by means of the flanges 7 and 10, and any matter printed upon the face thereof will be displayed to the best possible advantage. in position, it is merely necessary to remove the nuts 5 and separate the base sections 1 and 2.

It will thus be obvious that I have provided an improved sign and card holder by means of which the card may be displayed Without the necessity of nailing or marring the same.

In a sign and picture frame, the combination of a base formed in complemental sections, rods projecting from one of the sections and forming guides upon which the opposite section is mounted so as to be moved toward or away from the first mentioned section, nuts threaded upon the rods and serving to retain the two sections in.
