To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, IVILLIAM F. RAPE, a citizen of the United States, residing at lVoodsboro, in the county of Refugio, State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Broilers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to improvements in broilers, and has for one of its objects to provide a simply constructed device of this character which may be readily folded into small space when not in use or for transportation.

The improved device may be constructed of any required size and of any suitable material, and is more particularly adapted for the use of tourists, campers, prospectors, hunters, and the like, and the invention consists in certain novel features of construction as hereinafter shown and described and then specifically pointed out in the claims; and, in the drawings illustrative of the preferred embodiment of the invention, Figure 1 is a side elevation of the improved device, Fig. 2 is a plan view of the same in open position, Fig. 3 is a plan view of the improved device in folded position, and partly in section.

The improved device comprises two base members, one of which is shown at 10, and precisely alike, each base member having downturned ends 11 to form supporting feet, and in the larger forms of the device the central portion of the side members 10 is bent downwardly as shown at 12 to form an intermediate support. Two of the members 10 will be employed, one at each end of the device, and in the smaller forms of the device the central support 12 will not be required. Rising from each of the members 10 are pins 13 spaced apart, and connected to the upper ends of each series of pins is a longitudinal plate or bar 14, the side bars being thus each spaced for a distance from one of the side members 10. Extending between the members 10 are a series of bars 15, each bar being looped at its ends around an opposite pair of the pins 13, as shown. The distances between the pins thus corresponds to the distances between the bars, as shown. The bars form the supports for the food to be broiled, and are thus disposed in parallel relations and at right angles to the members 1014; when the improved device is in open position, as shown in Fig. 2. Then thus arranged the feet members 11 support the bars 15 above the fire, and the improved device when in open position thus forms an efiicient broiler device. When not in use, the improved device is readily foldable into the position shown in Fig. 3 with the members 10 in relatively close relations and the bars 15 oblique to the side members. This folding operation is produced without detaching any of the parts, as will be obvious.

The improved device is simple in construction, can be manufactured of any suitable material and of any suitable size and provided with any required number of the bars 15, and spaced at any required distance apart.

The device will be found of great advantage for campers, hunters, prospectors, and the like, and will also be found of advantage for domestic purposes where space is valuable, as the device can be folded into a small space when not required.

hat is claimed is 1. A broiler comprising side structures, each of said side structures being formed of two plates united by a plurality of pins spaced apart, and a plurality of bars each swinging at its ends upon said pins and extending bet-ween said plates.

2. A broiler comprising side structures, each of said side structures being formed of two plates united by a plurality of pins spaced apart and one plate of each side structure being directed downwardly to form supporting feet, and a plurality of bars each swinging at its ends upon said pins and extending between said plates.
