Be it known that I, J D.A AYERS, of EastGreeus- `borougl'i, in the county of Orleans, and State of.Ver `mont, have invented a new and useful Improvementin pivots e e'. y

Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding close the brackets.
They act as braces from beneath, for supporting the bracket, as it reaches outvfrom the sash,.over the casing A, as seen in the drawing.
T o the left-hand bracket, as seen in g. 2, there is a small spring, t', attached, whiehlis designed to bear upon th`e pivot e suiciently hard to retain the curtain in any desired position, by the friction thus produced.
By attaching the curtain to the sash, the sash may be lowered to any desired point, and the curtain drawn s0 as to cover all the lower portion of the window, and still not interfere with the proper ventilation of' the room.
ABy the use of the suppdrts D D, thebracket is retained in place at all times, and prevented from gettingloose, and thereby annoying housekeepers.
