UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ROWLEY K. ORTT AND MAHLON. A. SHEARER, OF NORRISTOWN, PENNSYLVANIA.
CURTAIN-FIXTU RE FOR BAY-WINDOWS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters latent No. 509,238, dated November 21, 1893. Applicationfiled January 23,1893. Serial No. 459,504.. (NomodeLl To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that We, ROWLEY K. ORTT and MAHLON A. SHEARER, citizens of the United States, residing in Norristown, Montgomery county, Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain- Fixtures for Bay-Windows; and we do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
Our invention relates to improvements in curtain fixtures for bulk and bay windows, the object of the same being to provide a support for curtains in windows at an angle to one another, whereby they may be easily hung thereon and which fixture is easily set in place and removed.
The invention consists in the combination of a bracket adapted to be secured to the wall or window-frame and a yoke attached to the arm of the bracket having diverging fingers or lugs for supporting the hollow curtain-rods or poles.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l,
is a perspective view of the bracket with a yoke adapted for a square window. Fig. 2 is a similar view, the yoke being adapted for angular bay windows, and Fig. 3 is a view of the same, showing the parts assembled.
A is the bracket secured to the window frame or wall in the usual manner, which has the arm B extending therefrom, and this arm has a notch anear its outer end.
0 is the yoke having fingers or lugs c 0 ex tending outward therefrom at an angle to each other equal to the angle of the windows to which the curtains are hung. For square bay Windows, they would be at right angles to one another as shown in Fig. l, and for angular bay windows they would be as shown in Figs. 2 and 3. The yoke C may be further provided with a vertical finger a over which an ornamental knob may be placed. This yoke is either integral with the arm of the bracket B, as shown in Fig. 1, or it is provided with a groove (2 on the under side of its con tral portion which will fit the notch a and thereby be held in place. Over the fingers c c fit the hollow curtain-poles D.
Having now described our invention, what we claim is 1. In a bay-window curtain fixture, the combination of a bracketand an integral yoke having diverging fingers for supporting the curtain poles, substantially as described.
2. In a baywindow curtainfixture, the
combination of a bracket and a detachable integral yoke having diverging fingers for supporting the curtain poles, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof we affix our signatures in the presence of two witnesses.
ROWLEY K. ORTT. MAHLON A. SHEARER.
