TRAINING DEVICE.-
l Asllaeelcation ofALetter-s Patent.
. Patented N ov. 10,1908.
Application med april 2o, 190s. serial No. 428,085.
1b all whom it may conce'm:,
` Be it known that I, FERDINAND KULL, a subjectof the King f Hungary, residing at Pittsburg, in the county ofA Allegheny and" 5. State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain. new and useful Improvements in Tr-aining Devices, of which the following is a' specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
Thisinvention relates to a training device, andthe prima-ry object of my invention is to provide 4a novel device for training children to .walk- A further object of, my invent-ion is to provide a device wherein means are em-v ployed for amusing av child upon the device. With the above and otherobjects in view, lwhichwill readily appear as the invention is better understood, the same consists in the no vel construction, combination .v and arrangement of parts to be presently described and thenspecifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of my training device, Fig. 2 is a. sectional 'view of a portion of the same, Fig. 8 is a perspectiveV view of the training device provided withl a. chair swing, and' Fig. 4- is an elevation'of' a. portion of my training device partly broken' away and partly in section.
To `put my inventio in`to practice, I provide a circular base 1`wit-h a fixed standard or 'upright '2, to which is secured a circular bearing block 3 which is braced by angle bars 4 secured to said block and tothe base 1.
The bearing block 3 is provided with a race for anti-friction ,balls 5 on which is mounted. a revoluble member 6, which can be fixed by a set screw 7. The outer end of the member 6 is bifurcated, as at 8 and provided with a shoulder or lug 9 for an yarm 10, said arm being pivoted in the bifurcation'of the' -member 6 by a pin 11. The arm 10 can only swing in one direction, when released by a pivoted ba'r 12 carried by 4said member, as the lug 9 prevents said arm from swinging; -in the opposite direction. The pivoted bar 12 is employed to maintain the arm 10 in' ered by a cushionor resilient support 16.
alinement with the member 6.
l Adjustably mounted in the Aouter end of the arm 10 by a set screw 13 is an extension 14 provided'with an annulus orv ring 15 cov- '55 l The upper en d of the standard or upright 2 is provided with'anadjustable sleeve 17 having an Outrigger 18 from whiclr'is sus-- pended by spiral springs 19 an amusement device consisting either of "a toy 20 or -a, chair 21. The sleeve 1'( is heldin engagement with the standard or upright 2 b'ya set screw 22. l.
An infantis placed in the ring or alinulus. 15 and is lsupported by the cushion 16 engaging under' thev armpits of the infant. lVhen the member 6 is free. for rotation, the infant can walk around the base 1.` The amusement device, particularly the toy 20 is adapted to attract an infans' attention and amuse the infant while learning' to walk upon tlie device. The chair 21 'can be used as a' swing and -when soused, the pivoted `bar 12 is raised and thearm 10 swung at right angles to the 75 member 6, whereby an infant bemg swung in the chair 2l would not strike or interfere with another infantplacedin the annulus or ring 15.
It is apparent that my device WillA partially support an infant being .taught to' walk and will prevent the limbs of the infant from being deformed.
Having now described my invention what I claim as new, is
A training device of the type described comprising a base, a standard carried thereby, a member revolubly mounted upon said standard, an arm pivotally. connected to'said member, a pivoted bar carried by said'member for maintaining said arm in 4alinement therewith, an, adjustable extension carried by said arm, |and a ring vor annulus carried by said extension, substantiallyjas described.
In testimony whereof I affix myl signature 95 in the 'presence of two Witnesses. Y
FERDINAND KU'LL. `I-Vitness-es':
