Description

I..: RIB-DER. PANE 041131311. APPLICATION riIiEn APR. 2a, 1908.
l t z'inesses Patented Sept. 29, 1908.
LUDWIG RIEDER, OF NUREMBERG, GERMANY.
IBARCEL-CARRIER.
Specification of Letters liatent.
Patented Sept. 29, 1908.
Application filed April 23, 1908. Serial No. 428,832.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, LUDWIG RIEDER, whose post-oflice address is No. 34/1 Wodanstrasse, at Nuremberg, Bavaria, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Parcel-Carriers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as 'will enable others skilled in the art' to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention has-for its object to provide an improved parcel carrier for facilitating and rendering as convenient as possible the carrying of parcels.
A parcel carrier according to this invention comprises a flexible handle provided at each end with means such as an eye or loop supporting a ring to which are connected so as to be freely 'movable two or more chains for carrying parcels. These chains are adapted to be readily lengthened and shortened by the addition and removal of chain links or snaphooks or the like.
A parcel carrier embodying the present improvements is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation, and Fig. 2 an.
end elevation of the improved carrier.
The handle 1 is of leather and is provided at each end with an eye or loop 2, that is firmly attached to the handle in any suitable manner. A ring 3 is passed through each loop 2 and each ring has connected to it two or more chains. Each chain is composed of links 4 and one or more snaphooks 5.
In use the last hook is hooked into the string binding or fastening of the parcel. A greater or smaller number of parcels can be carried according as more or less chains are connected to the handle 1.
The chains may be distributed in accordance with their position and length over the parcel in such a manner that each hook will engage with that part of the string binding or fastening of the parcel most suitable for it.
The ring 3 allows in a simple way the chains to move into their respective prescribed positions.
The chains may be lengthened or shortened by adding or removing one or more snaphooks to or from a chain. In other constructions of the chains, the number of'links may be increased or decreased for the same purpose.
Each chain is adapted to be removed from its ring. For this purpose the ring is either split so as to allow of the chains being removed singly therefrom as in a key ring, or the top link of each chain is so constructed as to enable it to be readily detached from the ring. This may be eifected, for example, by using a snaphook as the top link.
The improved parcel carrier is simple and cheap to make. It can therefore be manufactured in quantities and be sold at a low price.
As the improved carrier takes up a very small space it can be carried in ladies handbags.
What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A parcel carrier comprising in combination, a non-metallic flexible handle provided at each end with an eye or loop, a ring for each eye or loop, one or more chains secured to said rings and each composed of detachable links whereby they may be lengthened or shortened, and snap hooks secured to said chain.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature 8Q in presence of two witnesses.
LUDWIG RIEDER.
Witnesses ALEX. WIELE, MAX SCHNEIDER.
