MARY KNAPP, or DAYTON, NEW roan THREAD AND SEWmG-SILK REGULATOR FOR snwnrdmcnmns.
Specification ot Letterl Patent.
Patented Sept. 22, 1908.
Application flled April 17, 1908. Serial No. 427,725-
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, M AR) KNAPP, a citizen of the United States of America,- residing at 'Dayton,-in the county of (-at taraugus and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Thread and Sewingbilk Regulators for Sewing -l\iaehines, of which the following is' a specification.
This invention relates to thread and sewing silk regulators for sewing machines, and one of the principal objects of thesame is to provide a simple and ellici-ent device to be placed upon the spool post of the sewing machine to prevent the thread from winding around the post.
In using silk thread or wax thread on sewing machines, when the s )001 is placed upon the s iool post, it is veryiiable to slip oil the s oo and to wind around the post as soon as i, to feed begins to draw upon the thread. My invention is intended to overcome this mmoyance, P
In the acoompanyin drawing-Figure 1 is a perspeetive vimv illustrating my thread and sewing silk regulator applied to the spool post of a sewing machine, only a portion of Fig. 2 is a side view of my attachment. Fig. 3 is an edge view of the same. Fig. 4 is an underside plan view.
Referring to the drawing for a more speeific description of my invention, the numeral 1 designates the spool post, usually lorated on the arm 2 ofa sewing machine.
My invention consists of an upright arm 3 provided with a plurality of thread guiding eyes 4 in the flattened upper )ortionof the same and inclined slots 5 lea ing from the outer edge of said arm into the eyes 4. The
eyes 4 are very smooth so thatthe thread will run freely through the same. A horizontal member 6 is provided with a suitable supporting device for the attachment. As shown, a disk 7 is provided with a sleeve 8 havin a hole Qtherein of a size to slip readily over the spool post 1. A set screw 10 passes through the sleeve 8 to bear against the spool post 1 and hold the attachment firmly in place. There beingltwo eyes 4 in the arm 3 spools of different eight may be used an t e thread prevented from running off the spools andwinding on the post by using the upper eye for a lon spooland the lower eye for a short one. Si k thread and wax thread are ver' liable to slip oil" the spool immediately a ter the spool 1s placed upon the post,
- and'niy attaclunent is particularly designed for use with wax thread or silk.
My thread and sewing silk regulator may be manufactured at slight cost, can be quickl Y applied for use and has been foundver esirahle and ellieient for its purpose.
1 aving thus'describod the invention, what is cl-iirned as new, is:- I
A thread and sewing silk regulator for seaing'znachines comprising adlSk, an arm extending outwardly therefrom, a vertical arm connected thereto and provided with a flattened u per end, thread eyes formed'in the flattene portion and rovided with inclined slots leading into. sai eyes, a sleeve under said disk, and a set screw extending throu h said sleeve to' bear upon the spool post 0 a sewing machine. 1
In testimony whereof I a-ffix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
MARY KNAPP.
