N. ROLLER. SHIRT WAIST PROTECTOR.
APPLICATION I'ILED MAR. 21, 1908.
I VEN TOR. Nan/11: 120/! WITNESSES:
ATTORNEY.
UNITED STATES NANNIE ROLLER, OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI.
SHIRT-WAIST PROTECTOR.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 9, 1908.
Application filed March 21, 1908. Serial No. 222,529.
T 0 all 1071 am it may concern:
Be it known that I, NANNIE ROLLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Louis, and State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shirt-WVaist Protectors, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part hereof.
My invention has relation to improvements in shirt-waist protectors, and it consists in the novel construction and arrangement of parts more fully set forth in the specification and pointed out in the claims.
In the drawings, Figure 1 represents a front elevation showing my improvement duly applied; and Fig. 2 is an enlarged elevational detail of the connection between the sleeve and body of the garment.
The object of my invention is to provide a breast-piece which will protect the shirtwaist so commonly worn by women employees in the warm months of the year. Its advantages may be clearly apparent from a detailed description of the invention which. is as follows: V
Referring to thedrawings, 1, represents a breast-piece provided with pockets and pencil holders if deemed necessary, as shown. The protector is equipped with a pair of sleeves, 2, 2 and has rear extensions or straps 3, 3 beyond the sleeves, the connection be tween the straps and sleeves being effected by strips of elastic sections 4, 4. Between the breast-piece and the sleeve arm-holes,
and at points contiguous to the shoulders of the wearer, are interposed elastic, sections 5, 5, the combined sections 4, 4, 5, 5, making I the garment pliable and yielding under all conditions of use. breast-piece has secured thereto a waist-band 6 the ends of which are overlapped and fastened in the rear by a snap or equivalent commercial form of fastener. Each section of the waist band is provided with a button or equivalent fastener 7 over which an eye or button-hole 8 of an apron A may first be passed before ' thc straps 3, 3, are crossed and their ends secured likewise thereto. The device therefore serves as an apron holder as well as a shirt-waist protector. It will be seen that the piece I. only extends to a point under the arm-pits and is open entirely in the back.
Having described my invention, what I claim is A garment protector comprising a breastpiece'open in the back'and extending to points under the armpits, a waist-band secured to the lower edge thereof. sleeves coupled to the breast-piece, elastic sections interposed between the arm-holes of the sleeves and the body of the breastpiere, the latter having rearwardly extending straps beyond the sleeves and provided with elastic sections at points contiguous to the shoulders of the wearer, and means on the waistband for permitting coupling thereof to the ends of the straps aforesaid, substantially as set forth.
in testimony whereof I atlix my signature, in presence of two witnesses.
