To @ZZ whom, it may concern."
Beit known that I, ALONZO MILTON COPE, a
citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of ,l
Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in Racks or Holders, of which the following' is a speciiication.
This invention is a device intended particularly to be applied to barbers chairs as an auxiliary holder or support for the head-rest of suoli chairs. These head-rests are commonly removed from their usual position during the operation of hair-cutting and the present device consists of a h older which is attached tothe back of the chair and on which the head-rest may be hung when not in use.
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying' drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view ofthe holder or rack. Fig'. 2 is a side view thereof shown attached to a chair, with the headrest thereon.
The device consists of'a base-plate 6 of sheet metal, which is secured to the back of the chair 7 by screws in holes 8 at the corners of the plate. Projecting from this plate are two arms 9, arranged side by side and each having upturned fingers 10, which are capped by rubber tips 11. Located below the arms stated and on a middle line therebetween is a pin 12, projecting from the plate, and this pin has a rubber tip 13.
The head-rest 14 in the use of the device is placed upon the arms 9, with the shank 15 of the head-rest extending down between said arms and resting against the end of the lower pin 12. This holds the head-rest in l convenient position, so that it can be readily replaced in its usual position when desired. The rubber tips prevent injury to the wood. The arms and pin may also be used to hang' towels or other things on, if desired.
I claim- The combination with a chair having a removable head-rest, of an auxiliary holder for the head-rest, comprising a pair of spaced j arms projecting from the back of the chair,
said arms provided with a plurality of upwardly-projecting Iingers on which the body of the head-rest is carried and a pin projecting from said back below and in line with the space between the said arms and adapted to contact with the shank of the head-rest to hold it in upright position.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this speciiication in the presence of l two subscribing witnesses.
ALONZO MILTON COPE.
