To all whom it may concern:
Be it'known that I, CLARENCE L. TAYLOR, of Alliance, in the county of Stark and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Traveling Cranes; and I do hereby declare thefollowing to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to'which it appertains' to make and use the same.
My invention relates to an improvement in traveling cranes, and more particularly to improvements on the crane shown and described in my application, Serial No. 305.107, filedMarch 9, 1906.
In my pending application the hoist ropes or chains are suspended from two pairs of drums and pulleys overhanging the sides of the crane and depend outside the main cranegirders; I
My present invention consists in main girders, each made up of separated sections, and a trolley having two pairs of drums and intermediate sheaves located in a plane between the separated sect-ions of each girder, whereby the main hoist-chains depend between said separated sections, thus sustaining the load within the outer wl1eelbearings oi-the main trolley.
My invention further consists in providing the bridge with platform on opposite sides of each sectional main girder extending throu ghout the lengthot' the bridge, thrs permitting ready and easy accessto the trolley and its mechanism or to the driving-gear of the bridge in the eventof a breakdown of any of said parts. a i
My invention further consists in the parts and combinations of parts and in the details and pointed out in the claims.

I 15 15 and 16 16 are all alike, their constru c- 0 trolley travels, the sections constituting each girder being parallel and disconnected from end to end,.and two. parallel intermediate girders on which the auxiliary trolley travels. One main girder is composed of the sections 2 and 2 and the other of sections 3 and 3, the four sections constituting the girders lzeing secured at their ends to the end carriages. These sections or girders 2 and 2 and 3 and 3 are each preferably made up of I-beams, and each is provided on its top with a rail 5, on which the flanged wheels 6 of the trolley 7 rest and move. The bridge is carried on the trucks 8,two to each end carriage, and each truck is mounted on two flanged trackwheels 9, Which travel on the elevated tracks supporting the bridge.
The trolley 7 is provided at its four corners with the compensating-trucks 10, each of which carries two track-wheels 6, arranged side by side, as shown' in Fig. 1. These trucks 10 span the spaces between the sections 2 and 2 and 3 and 3 and support the main trolley 7 on the four sections 01 the two girders above referred to. This trolley carries two double drums 15 and 15 at one side and the double drums 16 and 16 at the opposite side, the axis of the several drums telng parallel with the bridge-girders. , Each .drum is provided, as shown in Fig. 2, centrally with a toothed gear 17, the two 5' jgears on the drums ofeach pair of drums bemg in mesh, so that a motion imparted to one drum of either pair will transmit motion in the opposite direction to its companion drum. One drum of each pair is connected by gear-' roo ing with a motor, as fully explained in said application above referredto, so that when the motor is actuated the four drums rotate in unison.
