To a whom it may concern:

Be it known that 1, WILLIAM A. WRIGHT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cumming, in the county of Forsyth and State of Georgia, have invented. certain new and useful Improvements in Bedstead Attachments; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in attachments for bedsteads, and comprises a cabinet provided with a framework which is pivotally mounted upon bedstead-post-engaging members consisting of resilient arms which pass about the post, said arms being held to the latter by means of a bolt.

The invention comprises various details of construction and combinations and arran ements of parts, as will be hereinafter fully escribed and then specifically defined in the appended claims.

I illustrate my inventionin the accomp anyin drawings, in which igure 1 is a perspective view showing my invention as applied to a bedstead. Fig. 2 is an enlarged detail view in section, showing the manner in which the bracket-arms are secured to the post of the bedstead. Fig. 3 is an enlarged detail view of one of said bracket members having resilient arms, and Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the device detached.

Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a cabinet provided with suitable partitions and so arranged as to hold articles of various kinds within convenient reach of a person occupying a bed in connection with which the cabinet is used.

or bar are bent at inclinations, forming braces F, said inclined portions terminating in a part K, which is in alinement with the ends E and is apertured to receive screws K or other fastening devices, whereby the same may be fastened to the cabinet intermediate the loca tions at which the ends of said bar or rod are fastened, thereby securely bracing and holding the cabinet N designates two clamping members having resilient arms N, the ends of which are bent at angles, as at N and said arms are spaced apart, the shank portion of each near its base portion being apertured to receive a headed bolt Q, upon which a nut Q is mounte'd upon the threaded end thereof, whereby after said clamping members have been caught about a post the nut upon said bolt may be tightened for the purpose of causing said arms to engage the post with sufficient friction to hold the same in place. The shank portion of each of said clamping members comprises a bracket extension 0, apertured, as at O, to receive a rod P, which passes through said eyes or apertures 0, forming hinged means for supporting the rod or bar which supports the cabinet.

By the provision of the apparatus shown and described it will be noted that a simple and efficient means is afforded whereby a cabinet maybe conveniently mounted upon a bedstead for the purpose of holding articles of various kinds which will be convenient to an invalid or other person occupying the bed, the cabinet being so mounted that it may be swung around within convenient reach of the person upon the bed or when not in use may be swung to one side, as will be readily understood.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. An attachment for bedsteads comprising clamping members having resilient arms adapted to embrace a post of a bedstead, means for drawing said arms frictionally against the post, a rod mounted in bracket extensions of said members, a cabinet, a bar fastened thereto and bent to form lateral arms Which are pivotally mounted upon said rod which is carried by said bracket extensions, as set forth.

2. An attachment for bedsteads comprisin clamping members having resilient arms ad apted to embrace a post of a bedstead, means for drawing said. arms frictionally against the post, a rod mounted in bracket extensions of said members, a cabinet, a bar bent to form parallel bracket-arms which are apertured and adapted to receive said rod upon the bracket extensions of said members, the ends of said bar being bent at ri ht angles to said apertured arms and fastene to said cabinet, as set forth.

3. An attachment for bedsteads comprising clamping members having resilient arms adapted to embrace a post of a bedstead, means for drawing said arms frictionally against the post, a rod mounted in bracket extensions of said members, a cabinet, a bar bent to form two parallel arms which are apertured to receive said rod upon the bracket extension of said members, the ends of said bars bent at right angles to said parallel arms and adapted to be-fastened to the cabinet, portions of said bar intermediate the parallel arms thereof being inclined and terminating at their inner portions in a part of said bar which is in alinernent with the angled ends thereof and fastened to said cabinet, as set forth.

4. An attachment for bedsteads comprising clamping members having resilient angled arms, the shank portions of which are apertured, a bolt passing through said apertures, a nut upon the threaded end of said bolt and adapted to bear against one of said arms, an extension of each of said members forming a bracket-support which is apertured, a rod passing through the apertures of said bracket extension, a cabinet, and a bar fastened thereto and having portions which extend laterally and pivotally mounted upon saidrod, as set forth.
