Figure 2 is a top view ofthe box. v Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The object of'this invention is to facilitate the sucking of hops from the lion-boxv commonly employed in hop-yards during the pickingseason.
TheV boxes, as heretofore made, consisted of a cubical box, about six, feet' long and four feet wide, divided into four equal compartments by partitions, when lese compartments werefilleclwith hops by the pickers.
The sucking operationvvas performed bylifting the hops over the'edge ofthe box' byJ armfuls, .and depositing them in a sack held by a second person in close proximity to the hcp-box.
My improved box consistsof. a cubica'l box or frame, ava a, &e., divided intofour equal ,compartments by j partitions In,A which latter may be lframedliko the sides ofbox.
This fram'e or box is provided with a bottom, a', which supplies a bottom to each of the fon-rbottomless' boxes d d d, which latter slide loosely within the compartments, as shown. .A
The sacks e e e e, 8m., are slipped on. oveivthev bottomless compartment-boxes@ d d d, as shown, so th'at,
when each box is lled, the said yboxesumy be drawn from the compartments, leaving the hops within the sacks.
The sacks may then be tied and lifted out, an'd the compartments. are again lined with other sacks, and th'e boxes returned to the compartments for a repetition of theroperation.
This invention enables the sacking of hops to be performed in an expeditious manner, and without the aid of a second person lto hold th'e sacks. V
The handles of the compartment-boxes`are-shownatf and g g g, one., are hooks for hooking the sacks.
I claim as new, :indl desire to secure by Letters Patent- The hop-boxes a a a and bottomless compartments-boxes d d d substantially as shown and described, constructed and employed together,l all as and for the purpose'set forth.
