BED-sorrow.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 780,180, dated January 17, 1905.
Application filed August 12, 1904- Serial No. 0, 56-
To (LZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FREDERICK W. Honrnn, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Freeport, in the county of Stephenson and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bed-Bottoms, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to that class of bedbottoms which are formed of wire fabrics; and it consists principally in the production of a wire fabric formed of separate interlocking devices of peculiar construction adapted to form a continuous bed-bottom of any desired size and of easy and uniform elasticity.
Referring to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification, Figure 1 is a top plan View of a wire structure embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is an isometrical detail view of a section of the same.
Like letters of reference indicate corresponding parts throughout both views.
A is a conventional wishbone, formed of wire, having an eye A in its head and the free ends of the furcations A thereof formed into hooks A The structure constituting the body of the bed-bottom is composed of a plurality of series of conventional wishbones A, each thereof having an eye A in its head and the free ends of the furcations A thereof formed into hooks A, the eye A' of each wishbone composing the several series of the structure being engaged by the adjacent hooks A" of two of the wishbones A, forming a continuous series of the same.
The wire structure just described is best supported to form a bed-bottomby means of a rectangular frame having ends B B and sides B B. The hooks A of a marginal series of wishbones A engage one end B of the frame, the eye A of the opposlte marginal series A thereof being connected with the opposite end of the frame B by means of double hooks C. The sides of the structure are connected with the sides of the f 'ame B B by means of wishbones. I), having long furcations D engaging the ends B B of the frame and short and substantially transverse furcations D engaging the sides B B thereof.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In a wire bed-bottom, in combination, a wire structure comprising a plurality of series of conventional wishbones, each thereof having an eye in its head and the free ends of the furcations thereof formed into hooks, the eye of each wishbone, composing the several series of the structure, being engaged by the adja cent hooks of two of the wishbones forming a contiguous series of the same, a rectangular frame for su pporting such structure, the hooks of a marginal series of wishbones engaging one end of the frame, the eyes of the opposite marginal series thereof being connected with the opposite end of the frame by means of double hooks, and the sides of the structure being connected with the sides of the frame, by means of wishbones having long furcations ei'igaging the ends of the frame and short and substantially transverse furcations engaging the sides thereof, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
FREDERICK W. HOEFER.
