To all whom. it may concern.-
Be it known'that I, GOTTLIEB J. Hnss, acitizen of the United States, residing at Lincoln, in the county of Lancaster and State of Nebraska, have invented new and useful Improvements in Hot-Water Stoves, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to hot-water stoves; and the object of the same is to construct a device of this character for use in heating rooms by the use of gas, gasolene, kerosene, or electricity, which stove will'supply sufficient moisture to the room to-make it a healthful place to live in.
The simple and novel construction employed by me in carrying out my invention is fully described and claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof, in'which Figure 1 is a plan view of my stove with the cover removed.- Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal section taken on the line2 2, Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a plan view of the base. Fig. 4 is a broken horizontal section on the line 4 4, Fig. 2.

The numeral 1 designates the base of my stove, which consists of a flanged ring 2, perforated at 3 to permit the entrance of air. Mounted in the ring 2 and supported thereby is a water-tank 4:, comprising two annular portions in axial alinement'.a lower one 5 and an upper one 6. The ring 6 has an outer diameter which is smaller than the outer diameter of the ring 5, but larger than the inner, so that they overlap to form benches 7 and 8 and communicate through an annular opening 9. The cylindrical aperture 9 in the cen-- ter of the lower ring 5 forms a chamber to accommodate a burner 10, and the aperture 12 in the center of the upper ring 6 forms a draftopening to permit the ascent of the hot air.
Located above the base 1 and in alinement therewith is a cylindrical tank 13 and open at the top 14: and having a bottom comprising a central plane circularportion 15, surrounded by adownwardly-extending rim 16, located in alinement with the front face of the bench 8,

' A removable circular cover 17, having a rounded top highest in the middle, is fitted on the tank 13. The cover 17 is apertured at 18 to accommodate a pipe 19, which establishes communication between the tank 13 and an open urn 20, mounted on the top of the tank and containing a sponge 21. This construction enables the steam from the water in the tank 13 to keep the sponge saturated with water, which will keep the air in the room charged with moisture. To enable water to circulate from the lower tank to the upper and back, two sets of vertical pipes are providedan outer set 22, which extend between the bench 7 and the annular portion 16 and establishes communication between the bottom of the upper tank 13'and the bottom portion of the lower tank 4, and a set of pipes 23, which connect the bench 8 and the central portion 15 of the bottom of the tank 13 and establish communication between the top of the tank 4: and the upper half of the tank 13.
When my stove is in use, the tanks 4 and 13 are filled with water up to within a couple This hot water will rise through the pipes 23 and flow into the upper portion of the tank 13, where it will become gradually cooler and will be displaced by the warmer water flowing in and will sink and find its way down through the pipes 22 and flow into the bottom portion 5 of the tank 4 and will then rise to the upper part through the opening 9. In this manner the circulation will continue.
I do not wish to be limited as to details of construction, as these maybe modified in many particulars without departing from the spirit of my invention.
Having thus described my invention, whatI claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. In a stove of the character described, a lower water-chamber, an upper water-chamber, a combustion or heating chamber, and water-pipes establishing communication between said lower and upper water-chambers, said lower chamber having a stepped inner wall, forming said heating-chamber and its exit-flue, and having a corresponding upper wall, the steps of which, have connected thereto the-lower ends of said pipes, respectively.
2. In a stove of the character described, a lower water-chamber having a stepped inner wall and a corresponding outer wall, an upper water-chamber having a stepped lower portion or bottom, and Water-pipes establishing communication between said lower and upper water-chambers, said water-pipes connecting with the respective steps of the outer wall of said lower chamber, and, in like manner, with the steps of the lower portion or bottom of said upper water-chamber, respectively, and a heating-chamber, arranged in the base of the stove.
3. In a stove of the character described, a heating or combustion chamber, a lower water-chamber having an inner stepped wall and a corresponding outer wall, a base having airin'lets therethrough, in a plate below said combustion-chamber, an upper water-chamber having a stepped lower portion or bottom, and series of water-pipes establishing communication between said lower and upper waterchambers, connecting with corresponding steps of said lower and upper water-chambers, respectively.
