RAZOR-STROP SWIVEL.

Be it known that I, JOHN H. KEATING, a citizen of the United States,-residing at St. Louis, in the State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Razor-Strop Swivels, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact specification.

Myinvention relates to that class of swivels for razorstrops designed for holding two strops in such a Way that the swivel may be inverted, thereby making both strops available for use on either side; and my invention has for its primary object to provide a simple, inexpensive, and durable double swivel of this character having separate loops individual to the two strops.

With these ends in view my invention con: sists in certain features of novelty in the construction, combination, and arrangementof parts by which the said objects and certain other objects hereinafter appearing are attained, all as fully described with reference to the accompanying drawings and more particularly pointed out in the claims.

In the said drawings, Figure 1 is a perspec tive view of my improved razor-strop swivel. Fig. 2 is a side elevation thereof. Fig. 3 is an edge view. Fig. 4 is a plan or end view; and Fig. 5 is an enlarged detail section on the line 5 5, Fig. 2.

1 2 are two loops or links, which are provided with cross-bars 3 4, respectively, preferably formed integrally therewith and each serving for the support of one of the strops, (not shown,) which may be looped therearound in the usual or any suitable way. The loops 1 2 are formed with two stems or pivots 5 6, respectively, on which are swiveled the eyes 7 8, by means of which the device may be suspended from a nail or other support,the ends of the pivots 5 6 being headed or upset, as shown at 9, after passing through suitable apertures in the eyes 7 8, so as to be capable of revolving freely independently of said eyes. The loops 1 2 are arranged with their cross-bars 3 4 side by side and their eyes 7 8 turned in opposite directions,and the crossbars are secured together by suitable attachments in such a manner as to firmly connect the loops while holding their cross-bars a short distance apart to leave room for the looped ends of the strops. In order that this form of attachment or connection. between the cross-bars may be strong and durable and at the same time light, I prefer to form the same separately from the loops 1 and 2, it being found in practice that this is the vulnerable point of the device, and casting such connections integrally with the loops does not afford sufficientstrength. Hencel prefer to connect the cross-bars together by means of the con nection more clearly shown in Fig. 5, which consists of a shortsection of tubing 10, placed between the bars at each end, and a rod or .rivet 11, passing through both bars and the tube 10 with its ends upset, one of these devices being arranged at each end of the bars a sufficient distance apart to allow the stroploops to pass between them.

By the means described it will be seen that the two loops are held in parallel planes, with the connections 10 11 extending at right angles to them, and inasmuch as the connections maybe composed of wrought metal the device is capable of withstanding the rough handling which castings of this character are necessarily subjected to during the course of manufacture and marketing.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new therein, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. As a new and useful article of manufacture a razor-strop swivel comprising two loops for two strops respectively, arranged side by side and turned in opposite directions and cross connections independent of said loops rigidlyvsecured thereto for holding them together, substantially as set forth.

2. As a new and useful article of manufactu re a razor-strop swivel comprising two loops for two strops respectivelyeach havinga crossbar, said cross-bars being arranged side by side with the loops turned in opposite directions and rigid connections independent of said cross-bars riveted thereto and securing said cross-bars fixedly together, substantially as set forth. 7
