UNITED STATES PATENT FFICE;
ELMO HUGH CALLEN, OF LEECHBURG, PENNSYLVANIA.
CURTAIN-POLE AND SHADE-FIXTURE.
SPECIFICATION forming part Of Letters Patent N0. 710,352, dated September 30, 1902.
7 Application filed February 11, 1902. Serial No. 93,551. (No model.)
of pins and rings is entirely dispensed with.
The present invention has for its object to provide adjustable brackets for shade-fixtu res that may be adjusted to receive any width of shades; furthermore, to provide a curtainpole wherein the curtain may be easily attached, draped in an artistic manner, and readily removed therefrom when desired.
With the above and other objects in view the invention consists in the novel combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, and specifically pointed out in the claim.
In describing the invention in detail reference is had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, and wherein like numerals of reference indicate like parts throughout both views, in which Figure lies a perspective view of my improved curtain-pole and shade-fixture. Fig. 2 is an enlarged side elevation thereof.
In the drawings the reference-numeral 1 indicates the brackets, carrying rings 2, in which the pole 3 is slidably secured, said rings being provided with set-screws 4.
The reference-numeral 5 represents rings slidably mounted upon the pole 3, having setscrews 6 and a lower extension 7, said extension having formed therein a square opening 8 in one of the rings and a round opening 9 in the other to receive the shade-roller 10, carrying the window-shade 11, the latter being constructed in the ordinary manner. To one end of the pole 3 is secured an arm 12, carrying a rod 14:, and to the other end of said pole is secured a bracket 15, carrying a rack 16, in which is secured the end of the rod 14. The curtain 17 is secured and draped over the rod 14.
The many advantages obtained by the use ofmy improved device will be readily apparent from the foregoing description, taken in connection wlth the accompanying drawings.
It will be noted that various changes may be made in the details of construction without departing from the general spirit of my invention.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In a combined curtain-pole and shade-fixture comprising a pole ,3 having mounted thereon adjustable shade-brackets, an arm carrying a rod secured to one end of the pole, and a bracket carrying a rack secured to the other end of the pole, the latter being adapted to receive the end of said rod, all parts being arranged substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto signed my name in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
ELMO HUGH CALLEN.
