To all whom it may concern: Y

Be it known that I, ISAAC DAvIs, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the State of New York, have invented cirtain new and useful Improvementsin Garments; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

My invention relates to improvements in garments and particularly to the constructionor cutting and making of trousers or pants.

It consists in a trousers formed with flies at the sides, said flies being provided with a suitable fastening means and having projections or straps at their upper ends and buckles secured to the trousers for engaging the said straps, the said trousers being also provided with yielding means at the back for forming a yielding waistband for holding the trousers properly in position and yet permitting of ease of movement in all directions.

It also consists in certain other novel constructions, combinations, and arrangements of parts, as will be hereinafter particularly described and fully claimed.

In the accompanying drawings, forming part of this application, Figure 1 is a rearelevation of the figure of a person, showing my improved trousers. Fig. 2 is an enlarged perspective view of the upper'portion of the said trousers looking at the same from the front, the front fly and the side flies being open. Fig. 3 is a detail diagrammatic view showing the front and rear portions of one side of the trousers, the parts not having been sewed together. Fig. 4 represents a similar diagrammatic view showing the front and rear portions sewed together; and Fig. 5 is a detail view of one of the said flies, its parts being separated.

The'present invention has for its object the production of trousers, mens pants, boys pants, youths pants, boys7 and childrens knee-pants, bicycle-pants, riding-pants, overalls, and all other wearing-apparel which is made to fit the wearer quite snugly and yet allow him the freedom of all movements in any direction he may choose, such trousers or garments being so constructed as to recover themvention is directed more particularly to the providing of trousers with a waist portion so formed that it will yield to the movement of the wearer and yet will be held not only so as to fit the wearer snugly, but to hold the trousers in `place .without other support. The trousers are therefore preferably formed with the side flies 2, which make it possible to better Iit the waist of the trousers tothe shape of the wearer, and also with the usual front iy, together with an elastic fastening at the rear for giving the necessary yielding quality to the waist. As shown in the drawings, the side flies 2 are preferably formed with an inwardly-extending. ap, as 5, which is prefer L ably made integral with the rear portion 6 of the trousers-leg. The other part of the fly is formed upon the front 7 of said leg and may be made integral therewith, projecting into a well-defined strap, as 8, formed with a series of 'apertures adapted to be engaged by a buckle 9, which is attached to the rear portion 6`of the trousers-leg. The inner flap 5 vpreferably carries a suitable fastening-as,

for instance, a button 10, which engages a buttonhole ll, formed on the loose lining or inner portion 12 of the fly 2. The buckle 9 is preferably secured to the trousers by means of an elastic band 13 to further contribute to the yielding qualities of the waistband. As seenin Fig. l, the buckles 9 are preferably arranged upon the rear sideof the trousers, so that they would not show from the front upon a party wearing the same. VOf course it will be apparent that the arrangement of the parts of said fly may be reversed if for any reason it should be desirable to have the buckles in front without departing in the least from the spirit of the present invention. To further contribute to the yielding qualities of the waist of the trousers, the rear strap 4c isformed of elastic sections 14, attached to the trousers and connected with a 'double connectingbuckle, as 15, the said parts being secured to the trousers so as to necessitate the stretching IOO to a slight degree of the sections 14E 14 when the trousers are put upon the wearer, whereby the waistbandl will be drawnsnugly upon him.

The front fly may be constructed in any suitable and ordinary manner and is prefer ably located at the front of the trousers, as shown.

While I have described the aps 5 of the said flies and the outer flaps or straps 8 thereof as made integral with the side sections of the trousers, they may of course be made separate pieces, if it is desired, and stitched to the sections of the trousers, all within the spirit of the invention.

It wi-ll be evident from the above description that trousers constructed in accordance with the present invention can be cut so as to lit snugly upon the person of the wearer, yet will be yieldingly supported from the waist, so as to give perfect freedom .for movement in all directions, the parts readily recovering themselves after each movement and Y always maintaining the trousers in a smooth snugly-fitting condition.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. A trousers having a yielding snugly-tting Waist portion, side openings interposed therein and formed with inner and outer aps upon the front and rear sections of the trousers, flies upon the outer iiaps adapted to engage suitable fastenings on the inner flaps,

buckles secured to the opposite sections of the trousers from the outer aps for holding them in proper position, and yielding means secured to the trousers at the rear of the Waist portion, the structure being such that the buckles at the side will be capable of drawing up the yielding means at the sides and back of the trousers, substantially as described.

2. A yielding Waist portion for trousers, comprising a waistband, side iiies interposed therein, and yielding adjustable means for holding said flies closed, a .yielding strap at the rear of the trousers, made up of two elastic sections secured to the trousers and a double loop or buckle for joining the ends of said sections, and an ordinary ily interposed in the front of the waist and means at the side flies for drawing up the yielding means at the sides of the trousers and at the rear of the trousers to make the same t snugly though with a yielding pressure upon the wearer, substantially as described.

3. A garment having a waist-closure formed with openings at the sides, means for relieving the strain upon the wearer and yet holding the garment snugly around the Wearers Waist, and means for prevent-ing the same sag-` ging at any point, substantially as described.
