Be it known that I, HENRY J. MXLLER, of Nashua, inthe county of Hillshorough, and State of New Hampshire, have invented certain new and useful improvements in the combination of a Boot-Jack and Blocking- Brush, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings making part of this specification, in which 7 Figure 1 is a bottom side view of iny invention when opened to form a bootjaek.

Figure 2 a back side view when closed or shut together to form a blocking and apolishing-hrush for blacking and polishing hoots and shoes.

Figure 3 isa side elevation of fig. 2.

Figure 4 is an end elevation of figil.

My invention consists in combining a boot-jack and a Hacking-brush in a simple, cheap, and efficient manner, so that it may be very conveniently used for a hoot-jack, a blacki-ng-lnush, or a polishing-brush by simply opening or closing it, as shown in the drawings, in which A A represent two arms formed in one, with the flanges B, the handles 0, and sides D, which are cast in two parts and hinged together at the extremities of the handles, the hinging portions k being cast with the handles or fastened thereto. The longitudinal opening joint forms a division centrally between the two halves of the bootjaek hinged together as above stated, and between the two halves of the polishing-hrush and the blocking-brush, as clearly shown in figs. 1, 2, and 4. The wood E, which holds the bristles of the polishing-brush, is secured to the sides D of the boot-jack .Jy screws 17L passing through ears 9 and corner portionsfinto the wood. The wood F, of the blocking-brush, is fastened to the extremities of the arms A, through semicircular flanges a cast thereon The flanges B project from the under side of the boot-jack, terminating in rounded ends d,- which serve for feet to the boot-jack.

To use my improved device for a boot-jack it is opened or the two parts turned back, as shown in fig. 1, but the other side up, one foot placed on the top, the heel portion of the other boot placed betweea the two arms A, and the boot drawn oil from the foot. with the ordinary hoot-jack. To use my improved device asa Lila-citingbrush or a polishing brush, the two partsare brought together, as shown in figs. 2 and 3, and it is ready for use. It will be observed that an ordinary blocking-box may he placed in the opening between the handles and the polishing-brush, as shown in red lines in figs. 2 and 3, which puts the Whole apparatus into a convenient form for transportation, or it may be placed in a small box where-it may he kept ready for use.
