To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, SIMON DANCYGER,a citizen of the United States, residing at Dayton, in the county of Montgomery and State of Ohio, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Tag-Clasps; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the numerals of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

My invention relates to improvements in tag-clasps, the features of which will be fully hereinafter described'and claimed.

The object of my invention is the production of a tag-clasp that will not become detached, and so guard the point that the fingers in the handling of the same are not liable to be pricked.

The Objects are accomplished by the device illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a top view of the device attached to a tag. Fig. 2 is a side view of the same with the tag omitted.

The tag-clasp is formed of a single piece of wire and comprises the central circular bend 1, a straight part extending to the semicircular curve 2, and the terminal point 3. From said central bend there is a spring extension terminating in the looped end 4 in line with said extension and which is formed at a right angle to the plane of the other parts and is bent slightly inwardly, and between the sides of which and the outer end is the bearing of the terminal point. The normal position of the looped end is shown by dotted lines, Fig. 2. I

The operation of attaching the clasp is to put the pointed end through the orifice of the tag B. Then put the point through the fabric and press or spring the looped end down heneath the point, and when this is done the point lies within said loop and on the transverse part thereof, and the point is thereby protected. To press down'the looped end, it must be carried laterally to pass beneath the point.

I am aware that similar devices are in use, and I only seek to secure the specific construction described and illustrated in this specification.

Having described my claim is- The tag-fastener formed of a piece of wire bent near its center in a semicircle forming two members practically parallel, one member terminating in a loop, the other terminating in a hook, the point 3 thereof held between the parts in the plane of said loop, substantially as described.
