GHURNS.
Be it known that we, JAMES C. JAY and JOSEPH YOUNCE, of Wabash, in the county of Wabash, and State of Indiana, have invented anew and useful improvement for Chuinirg Butter from Milk and Cream; and we do hereby declare that the following is :1V full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing, which is a perspective view, and is made a. part of this specification, to wit:
The churn is. a rocking-chair, 0 O0, in any usual f'orin, having a watei tight ,iJOK, G G, which, when used, is firmly attached to the lower rounds H H of' the chair, or to the seat thereof, N. no box has a tight cover, which is put on when used, but may he opened to see in, or to remove the bltIl'Oi'. D represents a wooden shaft, running horizontally through the box, and working in theends of the hex at opposite sides, and in the under side of which shaft a dasher is framed perpendicularly. That part of the shaft which is outside the box is framed into a half moon ef'wood oi metal, C C; so that the motion of the dasher inside shall agree with the motion of the half moon outside. Walking legs A A are aiiixed at the ends to the half moon by the screws or bolts B B; and the feet of the legs are kept from sliding out by being united by the cross-piece E E, which is kept in place and is attached to the box by the pivot 1 so that, by rocking the chair, the walking legs are brought to the floor alternately, and move the dasher back and forth. The box and the parts attached to it may beremoved from the chair when not in use.
What we claim as our invention, is
1. The devices for giving motion to the dasher, in combination with the chair.
2. Utilizing and applying the power of the reciting-chair in motion,- and its easy and convenient motion, for purposes of churning And we disclaim all claim whatever on account of the chair or its form.
