SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 627,776, dated June 27, 1899. Application filed August 22, 1898. Serial No- 689,235. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, J OHANNES FIsoHBAoH' and LUDWIG HENss, citizens ofthe Empire of Germany, residing at Wiesbaden, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Penholders, of which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to penholders, and has more particular reference to a device allowing the pen to be readily and easily placed and drawn out, at the same time securing the position of the pen for writing, as more fully described and claimed hereinafter.
The accompanying drawings show a construction embodying the invention, in which drawings-- wood, hardened rubber, or metal.

The pen is very easily fixed to or removed from the penholder owing to the elasticity of the covering 0, and this elasticity also keeps the pen fixed for writing. Pens of all dimensions can be used with the above-described arrangement.
Having fully described our invention, what we claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A penholder composed of a stem, a plurality of metal wires arranged longitudinally around the end of the stem, and an elastic socket surrounding said wires, substantially as described.
