Be it known that I, CONRAD RUST, .I r., a

'citizen of the United States, residing at Indianapolis, in the county of Marion and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Price-Lists, of which the following is a specification.

As is well known, in many lines of merchandiz'ing, owing largely to the numerosity and small sizes of the articles in stock, card price-lists are found to be necessary, which hang at convenient places near the shelving on which the goods are placed. This is peculiarlythe case in hardware stores, and in such stores the character` of the goods rapidly soils the hands of the salesman, so that by-constant handling the price-list cards become grimy within a comparatively short period of use, so that new ones become a necessity. After a short period of handling, too, it becomes difficult to make changes as required upon such cards owing to the soiled condition of the surface. These cards should have price inscriptions upon both sides both for reasons of economyT in the cards themselves and because by so doing the necessary number of cards is largely decreased.

The object of my present invention is to produce aV price-list suitable for use for the purposes above described in which the disadvantages above spoken of shall not be pres- -ent and in which the surface bearing the price inscriptions shall be completely protected from soiling, the cards themselves easily removed and replaced, and each side of the card capable of being changed without disturbing the other. To these'ends it consists in a suitable frame, a board within the frame, sheets of paper resting upon the surface of the board, transparent protecting material coveringthe paper, and a removable side or end to the frame, enabling the various parts to be inserted and removed at will, as will be hereinafter more particularly described and claimed.

Referring to the accompanying drawings, which are made a part hereof and on which similar numerals of reference indicate similar parts, Figurel is a front elevation of a pricelist embodyingmysaidinvention; Fig. 2,a central sectional view of the same on an enlarged scale, the central portion being broken away; Fig. 3, a fragmentary view of one corner of the frame as shown in Fig. l; Fig. 4, a similar but enlarged view with the closing portion of the frame removed, and Fig. 5 a similar view to the lower portion of Fig. 2 with the closing portion of the frame removed:

I have shown the main portion l of the frame as composed of sheet metal bent in U- shaped form to receive the other parts. This frame may be cut and bent to the desired form at the corners or may be composed of separate pieces soldered or otherwise joined together and is provided with a ring 2, by which it may be hung where desired. The lower end of the frame, as best shown in Figs. 4 and 5, is open and is adapted to be closed by a covering or closing piece 3, which when pushed onto the other frame parts holds the interior parts in their proper positions. Within the frame is the central plate, board, or backing-piece 5, and resting uponthe two surfaces of this are the sheets of paper 6 6. Outside the sheets of paper are the two transparent coverings 7 7 which I prefer to make of clear celluloid, which is tougher and can be made thinner than glass conveniently can.

In assembling my improved price-card for use the desired inscriptions are placed upon the sheets of paper, which are laid against the central board backing', and the transparent coverings laid over them. The whole is then inserted into the frame through the open lower end, after which the covering-piece 3 for the opening is pushed in place, its size and character being such that it fits tightly onto the main frame and is held there by spring force.

An advantage vnot before mentioned in the` use of my improved price-lists is that the inscriptions upon the sheets can be made and changed with au ordinary typewriter, which of course is impossible on stili' cards, while to firstmake such inscriptions upon paper and then paste the paper onto cards destroys the possibility of afterward changing the same.
