UNITED STATES PATENT ()EFICE.
NEALS HAMMER, OF ORANGE, NEIV JERSEY.
EXTENSION SHADE-BRACKET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 593,417, dated November 9, 1897. 7 Application filed J ly 19, 1897. Serial No. 645,020. (No model.)
To aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, N EALS HAMMER, a resident of Orange, Essex county, State of New Jersey, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Extension Shade-Brackets, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention relates to extension shadebrackets, and has for its object to produce a bracket which may be employed with an ordinary window-shade or shade-roller and will accommodate rollers of diiferent lengths.
To this end myinvention consists in the construction hereinafter set forth and claimed.
My invention will be understood by referring to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a face view of an extensionbracket embodying my invention, showing the same as supporting a shade in the manner that it is usually employed. Fig. 2 is a horizontal section through the said extensionbracket on line 2 2 of Fig. 1, and Fig. 3 is a section on line 3 3 of Fig. 1.
In the accompanying drawings, A represents the jamb 0r batten of a window. My This device is shown in the present instance as comprising a casing to, provided with ears I), through which screws 0 pass. The casing is apertured at cl and slotted at 6. Moving freely within the casing is a bolt f, having a reduced shank g, designed to pass through the aperture dof the casing and to be guided thereby. The bolt f is pressed forward in the casing by a spiral spring h, which surrounds the reduced shank g thereof and, bearing against the inside face of the casing and a head of the bolt, forces the said bolt to the right in the casing. Mounted upon the bolt in a suitable manner, as by being screwed therein, as shown, is a shade roller bracket j. This shade roller bracket has a shank is passing through the slot 6 and secured in the bolt f, so that the said bracket will be supported by the bolt in such a manner that it may be moved laterally to accommodate itself to rollers of various lengths, it being understood that the roller is similarly supported at the other end (not shown) either by an extension-bracket or stationarily supported.
- WVhat I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
In an extension-bracket, the combination of a slotted casing, a spring-actuated bolt moving freely therein and a shade roller bracket carried by the bolt.
NEALS HAMMER.
