IMPROVEMENT IN STRAW-CUTTERS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 5,77S, dated October 16,- 1866.

To all whom it may concern:

Bc it known that I, ROBERT GoNARRoE, of Oalnden, in the county of Preble and State of Ohio, have invented new and useful Improveinents in Straw and FeedOutters; and I do hereby declare the following to be afull, clear, and exact description thereof, reference bein g had to the annexed drawings, making partot this specification, in which- Figure l is a perspective view; Fig. f2, a detached portion to exhibit the roller on the pin d.

A. crank-handle or winch is so set upon one extremity ot' the shaft G that the greatest power ot the operator is used in overcoming the weight of the cams and knife as the latter is lifted to allow the straw to pass under it. This weight being' advantageous to the action ot' the knife, will not require the greater leverage that could be obtained from another position of the crank.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
