ATTACHMENT FOR THE LEGS OF BILLIARD-TABLES.

Specilication forming part of Letters Patent No. 5,3l3, dated September 725, 1866.

The object of my invention is to support,

. elevate,and level up billiard-tables, platforms,

or other heavy articles that require nice adjustments, which may be donein the most perfect and easy mannerv by the use of lny iinproved elevator.

My invention consists in a broad, circular metallic base, having a hollow center-pillar, on which is a substantial screw-thread, to which is Iitted a plate-nut, with one or more square notches or recesses in its edge to receive a hook-lever or a single or double prong wrench, and afriction-plate above it; also, in having a recess under the bottom of the base, into which a disk of vulcanized,india-rubber is secured, for the purposes hereinafter described.

To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will describe it more fully, referring to the drawings, and to the letters marked thereon.

The base A may be made of 'cast-brass or other suitable metal, in the bottom of which is a recess in which I secure a ring of sheet vulcanized rubber, B, to form the step or bearing on the floor. rIhis-prevents any noise or jar, and forms friction enough to hold it in its place and prevent it from turning as the platenut C is being turned up or vdowu on the screw a of the hollow pillow D, the plate-nut O being of considerable dimensions, so as to have a substantial bearing on the frictionvplate E, which is placed between it and the table-leg, or the article it is placed under, for the pur,- pose of elevating or leveling up..

In the periphery of the plate-nut C there may be one or more notches, e, into which the nib or square hookfof the wrench F is inserted to raise or lower the nut C, for the purpose of leveling up billiard-tables, or elevating and adjusting anything to a nicety.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim 'as new, a n d desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

l. rlhe combination of the vulcanized indiarubber or other equivalent substance for a step, with a metallic base, hollow-screw pillar, plate-nut, and friction-disk, substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.

2. In combination with the device above described, thc doublearnied nib-Wrench or handlever for operating the same, in the manner and for the purposes specified.
