, H. W. BRAOKEN.
SPOOLER GUIDE.
,No. 567,450. l Patented Sept. 8, 1896.
Inventor.- ZZ oward/ Wfirzwken UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HOVARD W. 'BRAGKEN, OF HOPEDALE, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOR TO GEORGE DRAPER (it SONS, OF SAME PLACE.
SPOOLER-GUIDE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 567,450, dated September 8, 1896.
Application filed May 28, 1896. Serial No. 693,410. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HOWARD W. BRACKEN, of Hopedale, county of Worcester, State of Massachusetts, have invented an Improvement in Spooler-Guides, of which the following description, in connection with the accompanying drawings, is a specification, like letters on the drawings representing like parts.
This invention has for its object the production of an improved spooler guide or clearer to act on and remove motes and other impurities and bunches from the yarn going from a bobbin to a spool.
My improved guide has a weighted jaw, and the normal posit-ion of the face of the said jaw with relation to the cooperating fixed jaw is under the control of a regulating device, shown as a screw.
Figure 1 shows in front elevation a sufficient portion of a spoofing-machine with my improvement added to enable my invention to be understood. Fig. 2 is an enlarged elevation of the spooler-guide; and Fig. 3, a section in the line m, Fig. 2.
The frame A, (but partially shown,) the rod B to support the bobbin-holders O, and the lifting-rods D, having the rod D to support my improved guides, to be described, are and may be all as usual in spoofing-machines.
The guide herein shown consists of a fixed jaw a, having a substantially straight lower face provided with a foot a, shaped to fit the top side of the rod D, and a weighted jaw b, pivoted on a stud b, threaded at its inner end and screwed into an arm b shapedto fit the under side of the said rod D, the foot a and the arm I) being clamped to the said rod by suitable set-screws b The jaw b has one of its ends heavier than the other, so that normally the acting edge of the jaw is borne toward the lower face of the stationary jaw a, the distance of the faces of the said jaws apart being regulated or determined by a regulating device, shown as a screw 0, inserted in a pocket of the jaw a, said screw being surrounded by a spring under its head.
The weight of the end b of the jaw bis such that it will act with a yielding pressure on the yarn passing between the jaws from the usual bobbin to the spool 01, and the said jaw turns more or less on the stud 11 during this operation.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A spooler-guide composed of a stationary jaw, a weighted pivoted jaw mounted on a pivot parallel to it at one side of the horizontal plane of the acting face of said stationary jaw, combined with a regulator to regulate the width of the space between the acting faces of said jaws, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
HOWARD W. BRAOKEN.
