CORN-HOLDER.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, Jnnns IIUXTABLE, a citizen of the Dominion of Canada, and a resident of llornings Mills, (Grey,) in the Province of Ontario, Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Corn-Holders, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part thereof, in which similar letters of reference indie-ate corresponding parts.

This invention relates to table implements, and particularly to that class thereof known as corn-holders and the object of the invention is to provide an effective device of this class by which an ear of hot corn may be held and manipulated without applying the hands thereto.

The invention is fully disclosed in the followi ng specification, of which the accompanying drawingforms a, part, said drawing being a central longitudinal section of my improved corn-holder.

In the practice of my invention, provide a holder comprisinga tube A, to the lower side of which is secured a handle B, and in the lower side of which is a slot 0, which extends from one end thereof to near the middle portion.

Mounted on the tube A is a sleeve D, which is provided with an inward]y-dirccted shoulder orprojection cl, to which is secured one end of a spiral spring E,- the other end of which is secured to the end of the tube, as shown at F, said spring being mounted in said tube, as shown in the drawing.

Secured to the sleeve D is an upwardly or outwardly directed arm G, in the end of which is mounted a cup-shaped holder 5 the open end of which is directed inwardly and seen red to the opposite end of the tube A, and in line with the arm G is a similar arm 'H, in the end of which is mounted a revoluhle shaft, to the inner end of which is secured a cup-shaped holder h, the open end of which is directed inwardly, and. to the outer end of said shaft is secured a head or handle 71 The cupshaped holder 7 is also preferably revolubly mounted, and the operation will be readily understood from the foregoing description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing. The sleeve D is free to slide on the tube A, and the normal action of the spring E is to draw said sleeve in the direction of the arm H, and in practice an ear of corn placed between the cup-shaped holders g and 7t, which 5 5 are adapted to receive the ends thereof, and said ear of corn may be turned and manipulated by the head or handle 71-, as will be readily understood.

It will thus be seen that I provide a simple and effective device for the purpose herein specified, and one which is comparatively inexpensive, this feature depending largely upon the material from which the holder is i made.

Having fully described my invention, I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. A corn-holder comprising" a tube having a handle secured thereto and provided with a slot in one end thereof, a sleeve mounted on said tube, provided with a shoulder or projection which extends through said slot, a spring in said tube one end of which is secured.

to the end thereof, and the other to said shoulder or projection, an arm secured to said sleeve, and a similar arm secured to the end of said tube, said arms being provided with means for holding an ear of corn, substan tially as shown and described.

2. A corn-holder comprising" a tube having a handle secured thereto and provided with a slot in one end thereof, a sleeve mounted on said tube, provided with a shoulder or projection which extends through said slot, a spring in said tube one end of which is secured 8 5 to the end thereof, and the other to said shoulder or projection, an arm secured to said sleeve, and a similar arm secured to the end of said tube, said arms being provided with means for holding an ea of corn, consisting c of revoluble and inwardlydirected cupshaped holders, substantially as shown and described.
