UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JACOB N. FAUST, OF ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS.
SUSPENDER-END.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 500,324, dated June 27, 1893.
Application filed October 19, 1891. Serial No. 409,093. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, J AOOB N. FAUST, a citizen of the United States, residing at Rock-.
ford, in the county of Winnebago and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Suspender-Ends, of which the following is a specification.
The object of this invention is to construct a clasp for holding together the various parts comprising a suspender end.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is an isometrical representation of the clasp in its open condition. Fig. 2, is an isometrical representation of the clasp in its open condition and in which the pieces of fabric comprising the suspender end are placed in position. Fig. 3, is a front view of the clasp closed and the fabric of the suspender held in position. Fig. 4, is a back face view of the closed clasp.
This clasp consists of a front portion 1, of the proper form having an extension 2, which is bent around the loop 3, which, connects with the buckle. v Lips 4 are bent upward for a purpose to appear hereinafter. Teeth 5 arise from one edge of the front portion, wings 6, are bent upward and have teeth 7, extending from their outer edges. A notch 8, is formed in each of the wings and a tooth 9 inward therefrom.
In use the fabric 10, comprising the suspender end is placed in position in the clasp so as to lie within the space formed between the lips 4, and wings 6. The drawers support 11, is placed between the lips 4, as shown at Fig. 2. The wings 6, are then closed down upon the fabric, and the teeth 5, and 7 will enter the pants supports 10 from each side, and the teeth 9, of the wings will enter the fabric of the drawers support. After the wings have been closed the lips 4, are bent over the wings so as to hold them firmly as shown at Fig. 4. By this arrangement each portion of the fabric comprising the suspender end is held separate and can lie in its flat condition. This clasp can be used to receive the back straps which form a connection between the pants and the suspender proper,if the drawers support is omitted.
I claim as my invention- 1. A clasp for a suspender end provided with a front portion, two wings extending therefrom, teeth extending from said wings and adapted to hold the fabric of the pants and the drawers supports, and two projections extending from the front portion of the plate separating the drawers from the pants supports and bent down over the suspender ends.
2. A clasp for a suspender end provided with a front portion, toothed wings extending therefrom adapted to enter the fabric of the pants supports and drawers supports, shoulders on said wings, and lips adapted to bear against said shoulders for holding all the parts together.
JACOB N. FAUST.
