To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, ELBRIDGE G. HOLDEN, of Fulton, in the county of Aransas and State of Texas, have invented a new and Improved Mosquito-Bar Frame, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

My invention relates to improvements in that class of mosquito-bar frames which are adapted to be placed above a bed, so as to support the mosquito-netting in a way to cover the bed and guard the occupants thereof; and the object of my invention is to produce an extremely simple frame which may be easily dropped into a horizontal position over the bed or as easily tipped up and made to slide behind the head-board,where it will be entirely out of the way. V

To this end my invention consists in certain features ofconstruction and combinations of parts, which will be hereinafterdescribed and claimed.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar'figures of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the views.

Figure l is aplan view of the mosquito-bar frame, showing it secured tothe' head board of a bed and in ahorizontal posit-ion thereon. Fig. 2 is a broken vertical section through the head-board and frame, and Fig. 3 is a broken sectional view showing the frame tipped into avertical position behind the headboard.

The head-board 10 of the bed carries on its back side and near opposite edges the vertical bars 11, which are supported at their lower ends in screw-hooks 12, which are fastened to the head-board, and which at their upper ends are supported by screw-eyes 13, which are also screwed into the head-board and which align vertically with the screw-hooks 12. The bars 11 support at their upper ends the lower portions 14. of the socket-hinges 15, the upper portions 16 of said hinges being made in the form of a sleeve, so that the side bars 17 of the frame 18 may slide easily through them. The frame 18 is of a generally rectangular shape, being of a size to cover the bed, and it is preferably made of wood or light piping, the side bars 17 being arranged to slide through the sleeve portions 16 of the hinges 15 and the end bars 19 being united to the side bars by suitable elbow-couplings 20. The lower end bar 19 of the frame, when the frame is in a vertical position, is provided with a cord 21, which is preferably secured to the bar at each side of the center; and the cord extends through a guiding screw-eye 22 on the back side of the head-board near the center, and thence through a screw-eye 23 near one edge of the head-board, and it terminates in a knot 24., which prevents it from Figs. 1 and 2, and the side bars will rest upon the top of the head-board and form a secure support for the frame.

WVhen the frame is to be dropped behind the head-board, one simply pulls sidewise on the cord 21, and it draws downward on the rear end of the frame, thus raising the front end and allowing the frame to slide into a vertical position.

From the foregoing description it will be seen that the apparatus is extremely simple,

that it may be very cheaply made, and that it is in every way as efficient and convenient as a more expensive article.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. The combination, with a bedstead having vertical bars secured to the rear side of the head-board, of sleeves having hinged connections with the upper ends of the bars, and a mosquito-bar frame having its side bars sliding in the said sleeves, substantially as described.

2. In a mosquito-bar frame, the combination, with bars adapted to be secured to the head-board of a bedstead, of hinges, one member of which is a socket to receive the said bars and the other a sleeve, and a mosquitobar frame having its side bars sliding in the said sleeves, substantially as herein shown and described.
