UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JAMES H. YUND, OF GRAND ISLAND, NEBRASKA.
PLATE, CUP, AND SAUCER HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 462,347, dated November 3, 1891.
Application filed December 3, 1890. Serial No. 373,478. (No model.) A
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JAMES H. YUND, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Grand Island, in the countyof I'Ialland State of Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful Improvem cuts in Plate, Cup, and Saucer Holders; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exactdescription of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, which forms a part of this specification.
My invention relates to improvements in devices for displaying tumblers, mugs, pitchers, and other articles of hollow ware, the object being to provide an inexpensive and ornamental holder, which will effectually hold the articles in an efficient and reliable manner.
The invention consists in the novel construction of holder hereinafter fullydescribed, and specifically pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawing the figure represents a perspective view of a device embodying my invention, with a tumbler held by one of the arms.
In the said drawing, the reference-numeral 1 designates the holders which hold the tunibler or other article to be displayed. These arms are preferably formed of a single piece of wire and comprise the vertical arms 2, having their ends bent over and downwardly, forming the arms 3. These arms may be secured to a suitable support, such as shown, which consists of a piece of wire 5, bent into triangular shape and provided with loops 6, with which bends of the arms 2 and 3 engage by passing the arms 3 therethrough. The ends of wire 5 are secured to a supporting-plate '7, which may be secured to a wall or other place or object. The holder also comprises the outwardly and upwardly projecting loops 8, the forwardly-projecting arms 9, and the transverse arm-lO, which are formed by properly bending the wire, as willbe obvious. Any number of these holders may be employed by simply stringing the arms 2 and 3 upon the arm 10, as shown, orbut a single one may be employed, as found most desirable.
The manner of using the device will be readily understood. The supporting-plate 7 being properly secured to a wall or other place, the holders are engaged therewith. The articles to be displayed are applied to the holder, the base thereof resting upon the arm 10 and the sides being embraced by the arms 2 and 3. In this manner the articles will be securely held, as will be obvious, and in a manner that will effectually display them to the best advantage. It will also be noted that two articles can be held upon each holder.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is- The improved article for displaying objects of hollow ware, consisting of the triangular support 5, made of a single piece of wire having loops 6 and connected with the plate 7, and the holder made of a single piece of wire, consisting of the vertical arms 2, having their ends bent over, forming the downwardly-depending arms 3, the bends thereof engaging with the loops 6, the outwardly and upwardly bent portions forming loops 8, the forwardlyprojecting arms 9, and the transverse arm 10, substantially as described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereunto affixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
' JAMES II. YUND.
