Description

(No Model.)
E No. 413,680. Patented Oct. 29, 1889'.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
LEONARD W; PARKHURST, OF HYDE PARK, MASSACHUSETTS.
NEEDLE-BAR FOR SEWING-MACHINES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 413,680, dated October 29, 1889.
Application filed April 1, 1889. Serial No. 305,628- (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, LEONARD W. PARK- HURSI', of Hyde Park, in the'county of Norfolk, in the State of Massachusetts, have invented an Improvement in Needle-Bars for Sewing-Machines, of which the following is a.
specification.
Figure 1 of the drawings is aside elevation; and Fig. 2, a similar view, partly in section, to show the construction of each section.
The special object of my invention is to enable the needle to be set more accurately and to be threaded more easily.
In the drawings, A represents a needle-bar made in two sections B O." The section B is provided with a latch-lever b, having the catch 12' under one end, the spiral spring I) under the other, a fulcrum b and a pressure-piece b. The section 0 has at its upper end the rabbet c, to receive the correspondingly-constructed end of section B, and the notch c, to
receive the catch 1). The spring 19 presses upward its end of the lever-latch, so as to hold a pressure of the thumb upon the piece 6 will enable the sections B O to be quickly separated.
Having thus described all that is necessary to a full understanding of my invention, What I claim as new, and desire to protect by Letters Patent, is
A sewing-machine needle-bar consisting of two sections B O, the section B having the latch-lever b,with the catch h under one end, the spiral spring 12 under the other, and the pressure-piece b over the spring, and the section 0 having the rabbet c and notch c, as shown and described.
