LAMP STOVE. No. 395,535, Patented Jan. 1, 1889.
'UNITED STATES PATENTOFFICE.
\VILLIAM G. AMOR, OF CLEVELAND, OHIO.
LA M P S T O V E SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 395,535, dated January 1, 1889.
Application filed September 10, 1887- Serial No. 249,386. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern;
Be it known that 1, WILLIAM G. Anon, of Cleveland, in the county of Guyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Lamp-Stoves,of which the following isa specification.
This invention relates to improvements in lamp-stoves; and it consists, first, in the peculiar construction of a metal chimney, and,
seeond,in a combined handle and filling-neck cover, these improvements being constructed an d combined to operate substantially as hereinafter described, and pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a rear side elevation of my improved lampstove. Fig. 2 is an end elevation of the same. Fig. 3 is also an end elevation showing the handle turned to one side and supporting the chimney in its tilted position and uncovering the filling-neck.
A is a base for holding the oil of a lamp stove, and is provided with a slot in its top for receiving a wick-tube, B.
h b are grooved posts standing at each end the wick-tube.
C is a filling-neck at rear side of the base. D is a cast metal chimney, whichI make in two parts, the lower end being provided with legs (Z (1. Those at the rear side are pivoted to lugs e e on the top of base A, the feet of the two front legs resting loosely on lugs e e on the front, whereby the chimney may be tilted backward, as shown in Fig. 3. At the top of this chimney are provided arms F F, branchingoutward, and are designed for supporting cooking-vessels. In the bottom part of the chimney is provided a cone, E, which sets over the wick-tube.
One half of the cone is cast with the corresponding half of the chimney. The two halves of the chimney are secured together by means of ears or lugs g g on the sides, and are fastened by screws or rivets.
H is a handle having a plate, G, which forms a cover for the filling-neck C, and is attached pivotally at rear side of the neck by a screw, S, the lower end of the handle resting on a shoulder, 2, on lower edge of the base A. To the cover G is provided an arm, I, which, when the handle is in the position seen in Fig. 2, bears against the bottom edge of the chimney and secures it from being tilted, but when the handle is turned, as seen in Fig. 3, unlocks the chimney and allows the chimney to be tilted.
Having described my invention, I claim- 1. In a lamp-stove, a metal chimney consisting of two parts, one part or half having arms F, one half, E, of the cone and one half of the chimney being cast integral, and the other half having arms F, one half, E, of the cone and one half the chimney being cast integral also, the said parts being fastened toof said slot for supporting the end edges of gether by means of a screw or rivet passing through the ears, as a new article of man ufacture.
2. The combination, with the base-fount A, provided with filling-neck C and wick-tube B, and the chimney I) of a lamp-stove, of the handle H, pivotally attached to the fount and provided with covering-plate G, and arm I, for latching the chimney in its upright position, substantially as specified.
IVILLIAM G. .AMOR.
