It is an object of the invention to provide a pair of trousers which eliminates the usual fly and the conventional closures therefor such as buttons or slide fasteners, and which increases the freedom of movement of I the wearer.
A preferred embodiment of the invention selected for purposes of illustration is shown in the accompanying drawings in which:
FIG. 1 is a front elevation showing the trousers in the normal position of use, with the belt clasped.
FIG. 2 is a similar view showing the trousers with the waistband partially opened, with the belt unclasped.
FIG. 3 is a rear elevation with the trousers in the position of FIG. 1.
Referring to the drawings, the trousers comprise two tubular legs 1, 2 which meet and are secured together at a crotch 3. The upper portion of the front of said legs terminate above said crotch in substantially triangular overlapping panels 4 and 5, each having a substantially horizontal marginal upper edge portion 6, 7, respectively, which constitute overlapping parts of a waistband. Each of said overlapping panels 4, 5 has a side edge 8, 9, respectively, which extends diagonally downwardly from the free end of the waistband to meet at said crotch.
The outside triangular panel 4 which overlaps the inside panel 5 is provided with an aperture 10, such as the vertical slit shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 which is located near the upper edge of the marginal portion 6, and above and adjacent to the free end of the waistband of the panel 5. A belt 11 is secured to the said free end of the waistband of the panel 5.
In the use of the trousers, the belt 11 is passed through the aperture 10 and extends around the waist of the wearer with the end of the belt secured to the free end of the waistband of the panel 4 in any suitable manner. For example, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, a simple clasp is provided comprising a loop 12 secured to the end of the belt, and a hook 13 secured to the panel 4.
What is claimed is:
1. A pair of trousers comprising two tubular legs meeting at a crotch, the upper portions of the front of each of said legs terminating above said crotch in substantially triangular overlapping panels, each having a substantially horizontal marginal edge portion constituting overlapping parts of a waist band, each of said panels having a side edge extending diagonally downwardly from the free end of the triangular panel to meet at said crotch, the outside one of said triangular overlapping panels having an aperture therein at said free end of the triangular panel near the said marginal upper edge portion thereof and above and adjacent to the free end of the triangular panel of the inside one of said overlapping panels, a belt secured to the free end of said last named triangular panel and extending through said aperture and around the waist of the wearer, and means to fasten said belt to the free end of said outside panel comprising a two-part clasp, one part of which is secured to the end of said belt, and the other part of which is secured to the said free end of said outside triangular panel.
