Be it known that 1, JAMES C. AUSTIN, of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and 1mproved Perfumery-Stand, of which the following is a full, clear, and exactdescription.

My invention relates to a stand adapted more especially for holding bottled perfumery for exhibiting it to prospective purchasers, and has for its object to prevent theft of the perfumery, while affording full view of it in an attractive manner, promoting its sale.

The invention consists in certain novel features of construction of the pcrfumery-stand, all as hereinafter described and claimed.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a partof this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both the figures.

Figure l is aside elevation of my improved perfumery-stand, with the lower bottle support and lock partly broken away and in sec tion; and Fig. 2 is a plan view with the post of the stand in horizontal section on the line w m, Fig. 1.

The central post, A, of the stand is sup ported on a suitable base, B, adapted to rest on a counter or shelf, or to supportthe stand in a show-window or elsewhere for advantageously exhibiting the perfumery. The post ispreferably a metal rod or tube which is screwed into the base, which is also made of metal in ornamental form.

Onto the post A are placed a number of pairs of perfumery-bottle supports, 0, and corresponding locking devices, D. The bottlesupports 0 are made alike, and in the preferred form consist each of a ring, 0, and a central hub, c, which is fitted to slide on the post, and is connected to the ring 0 by a series of radial spokes or rods, 0 and to the outer face of the ring a are fixed a series of rings or bases, E, in which the bottles, F, of perfumery are to he placed. These rings E may either be made without bottoms, as shown at the lefthand side of the lower support 0 in Fig. 1 of the drawings, to hold the tapering bottles F slipped into them, or they may have bottoms e, onto which the bottles may stand, as shown at the right-hand side of said Fig. 1, as maybe preferred for economy of manufacture or other reasons.

The lower support C rests on the upper part or huh, I), of the base 13 of the stand, and the upper supports 0 rest upon collars G, which are held by set-screws g, or otherwise, to the post A of the stand.

The locking devices D for the bottles held on the ring-supports G are made alike or with a ring, d, connected to a hub, d, by radial spokes or rods (2 The hub d slides on the post A, and a screw-rod, H, which is passed through a hole in the ring (I, is fitted by a screw-thread connection into a hole made in the hub d, and the screw 11 preferably has a milled head, h, by which it may be conven iently turned in against the post A, for looking the entire device D in any desired or necessary posit-ion on the post to confine the perfumery-bottles by means of a series of rings, I, which are fixed to the ring d, and are arranged concentrically with relation to the series of rings E on the adjacent support (3 below. These rings I are of a. size to allow them, when lowered simultaneously with the ring-frame d dd to pass freely over and around the necks f of the perfumery-bottles F, supported by the rings E, and prevent removal of the bottles when the locking device is held in place over the necks of bottles by turning the set-screw H in against the post A of the stand, and when any one or more of the bottles F are to be removed for examination or sale the set-screw H will be loosened or turned out clear of the post and the locking device D will be raised on the post until the rings I are above and clear of the bottles, and when those wanted are removed the locking device, will again be lowered to surround the necks of the remaining bottles by its rings I and the screw H will again be set in against the post to lock the bottles securely on the stand and safe against theft of them, while allowing full view of them to prospective purchasers.

The post A of the stand will be surmounted by any suitable cap, J, which, while preventing withdrawal of the parts C D from the post, gives an ornamental finish to the top of the stand.

The drawings show the stand provided with three bottle supports, 0, and three corresponding superposed locking devices, D; but a greater or less number of these parts 0 D what I claim as new, and desire to secure by 7 Letters Patent, is r 1. The combination, in a perfumery-stand, of a post or bar, one or more bottle-supports held thereto, and corresponding locking devices movable toward, and from the bottlesupports, and having rings or detents adapted ioinclose or engage the bottle-necks to prevent removal of the bottles, substantially as herein set forth.

The combination, in a perfumery-stand, of a post or bar, one or more bottle-supports held thereto, corresponding locking devices movable toward and from the bottle-supports, and having rings or detents adapted to inclose or engage the bottlenecks, and a set-screw or equivalent latch securing the locking devices to the post or bar, substantially as herein set forth.

3. The combination, in a perfumery-stand, of a central supporting-post, A, one or more bottle-supports, 0, held thereto, and comprising a ring, 0, and hub 0, connected by radial rods 0 and rings or supports E, connected to the ring 0, a locking device, D, corresponding with the supports 0 and arranged above them on the post A, and comprising a ring, d, and hub d, connected by rods 02, and a'set-screw; H, fitted in the parts cl d and adapted to bind on the post A, substantially as described, for the purposes set forth. 7 7
