To all whom, t may concern.-
Be it known that I, HENRY A. Fig. 2 is a plan of the same with the iront flap or portion of the cover thrown back. Fig. 3isa longitudinal vertical section on the linem x of Fig. 1. t
My invention has for its object to enable wholesale merchants and manufacturers to provide retail merchants and others with whom they have frequent dealings with a neat and convenient order-book; and to this end my invention consists in an order-book combining memorandum-spaces for articles wanted, letter-forms, and order-blanks, and a pocket or receptacle on the outside of the cover of the book for containing addressed envelopes and catalogues or lists of articles sold by the party or. parties to whom the order is to be sent, the whole being furnished in a neat and compact form and adapted to be hung up or placed in a convenient position Afor immediate use 5 and my invention also consists in certain combinations ot' parts and details of construction, as hereinafter, fully described and specifically claimed.
In the said drawings, A represents the cover of thebook, composed of card-board or other suitable material and of any desired shape. The cover here shown is composed oi' two iiaps or portionsb c, folded to turn over at the top along the line d, the front flap, b, being provided near its upper edge with a ring or sus.
pension device, e, to enable the book to be hung up in a convenient position for use. The lower portion of the front flap, b, is provided with a pocket, D, for containing a catalogue or list of articles sold by the party or parties to whom the order is to be sent, together with envelopes having lthereon the printed address of the said party or parties. A calendar, B, is preferably secured to the outside of the pocket, as seen in Fig. l; but this may be dispensed with, if not required.
Within the two portions b c of the cover are secured, near the upper edge, by stitchesf or other-suitable device, apack or series ofprinted sheets, O. Each of these sheets C has printed thereona ruled memorandum-space, g, upon which the retail merchant can jot down at once articles required to be ordered. Immediately beneath this memorandumspace q is a letterform, It, addressed to the wholesale merchant or manufacturer from whom the goods are to ordered, and below this is a ruled order blank or section, t', upon which is written adescriptions of the goods wanted, copied from the memorandum-space g above, which latter thus serves the double purpose of a memorandumsheet and a stub section and answers as a copy of the letter and order sent. Between the memorandum-space g and the letter-form h is a line of perforations, k, which enables the letter-form and order to be easily torn or separated from the stub section-or balance of the A sheet, after which the letter-form and order properly filled out and signed are inclosed in one of the envelopes contained in the pocket D and sent to the party addressed. It' there is not suflicient space on the front side of the order to write the articles required, the order may be continued on the back of the detached sheet, the words turn over being placed at the lower right-hand corner to call attention to the other side.
The above described combination orderbook is intended to be furnished free of cost by the wholesale merchant or manufacturer to the retail merchant `or other party dealing with him, and has preferably printed on the outside ot' the front portion of the cover the business cardor advertisement of the party 1.
