To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, PETER ENoon Samir, of Blue Ball, in the county of Lancaster and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain Improvements in Thin-Couplings, of which the following is a specification. v
The aim of my invention is to provide an adjustable device applicable to thill-couplings such as are now in general use Without change or alteration therein to prevent the rattling of the thills.

Fig. 3 is a section on the line fr x of Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a perspective view showing the parts of my attachment separated from each other and from the coupling.

In making use of the device the bolt is removed and the thill removed from its clip, the device inserted between the arms of the clip, and the thill inserted and secured by the bolt, as shown in Figs. 2 and 3. Vhen the this form of clip resting in the concave face of the rubber holds the same in position, and the rubber in turn holds the plate d. The cam-lever is next turned forward from its original position (shown by dotted lines in Fig. 3) to the position shown by full lines in the same figure, the effect of which is to vforce the washer e upward and turn the plate d downward, thereby subjecting the rubber toa vertical compression and crowding it tightly around and against the end of the thill, the effect being, as the rubber and plate are supported by the bearing of the latter against the face of the clip O, to hold the thill ironsnugly to its place and render its action entirely noiseless. A strap, G, passed from the thill through the end of the cam-lever, will serve the double purpose of preventing the leverfrom being accidentally thrown out of position and of retaining the thill in the event of the bolt or other part giving away.
I am aware that various devices have been contrived for securing and confining rubber andv other elastic material against a thill-iron,
vand this I do not broadly claim; but I believe myself to be the first to provide a cushion and compressing device such as herein described, adapted for application to thill clips or couplings of ordinary form.
My device is highly advantageous in that it may be quickly applied to or removed from existing couplings without the employmentot' special tools or instruments for the purpose, and that when the rubber is released from compression t-he latter' ceases its pressure upon the thill-iron, allowing the bolts to be readily withdrawn without mutilating or injuring its thread.
' Having thus described my invention, what I claim is- 1. 'Ihe anti-rattling attachment for a thillcoupling, consisting of the recessed elastic block, the plate adapted to engage over and behind the same, and providend with an eX- tended end, the washer encircling said end and bearing against the cushion, and the eocentric lever applied to said end outside of the washer.
