iMPROvEMENT IN 'HOLDERS FOR BILLS, NOTES, sw..

Specifica-tion forming part of Leters Patent No. 36,734. dated October 2l, 1862.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known *that I, GEORGE K. SNOW, of Vatertown, in the county of Middlesex and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and Improved Holder for Bills, Notes, &c., for use in stores, ticket and other offices; and I do hereby declare that the following, taken in connection with the drawings, which accompany and form part of this specificatlon, is a description of my invention sufficient to enable those skilled in the art to practice it.

Theobject of my invention is to meet a want inaugurated by the present extensive use of paper currency, especially by the introduction of the Postage Currency.

It consists in a holder of peculiar construction, having reference to facility of packing and withdrawing notes, bills, or tickets, and to their securityI in the positions assigned them.

In Figure l of the drawings there is shown 1n section a series of three of such angularl troughs or trays, each of which has its presser attached, though the method of attaching the presser isshown varied in each of the three instances. The construction, however, which I prefer is thatof the tube placed loosely upona fixed rod, as this presser is readily lifted by the contact of the ngers therewith when these present a limp and crumpled note for deposit beneath the presser. By inspection ofthe drawings itwill be seen that the angular construction of each tray or trough is such as will permit the withdrawal of the last note or ticket from beneath the presser on the plane of the bottom, which could not be done if the tray were made with a front side,'or otherwise than with substan tially the angular form of cross-section shown.

I claiml. As a new article of manufacture, the tray or trough when made with 4a cross-section, substantially as shown, and provided with a presser connected therewith and operating substantially as described.

2. The combination of two or more such trays or troughs and their respective pressers, substantially as shown.
