COMBINED CABINET AND SHOW-CASE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 353,770, dated December '7, 1886.
Application filed October 16, 1&85.
To all whom, it may concern.:
Be it known that I, LEO WoRMsER, of New York city, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in a Cabinet and Show- Case Combined; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in a cabinet or bureau constructed so as to have one or more of its sides adapted to show sam ples of spectacles or any other line of goods, and the interior of said cabinet arranged for containing a stock of same, access to which is cabinet.
It also consists in the arrangement of drawers or compartments for containing said stock.
It also consists in the arrangements and construction of the sides adapted to show the goods, and to be removed from said cabinet for the purpose of arranging the goods for display thereon.
In the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification, Figure 1 is a front View of the invention, showing the manner of displaying the samples of goods. Fig. 2 is a back view of the same, showing drawers to contain a stock of goods of the kind displayed. Fig. 3 is avertical section of the cabinet on the line Y Y, showing drawers also in section and the manner of inserting and removing the display-board at the side. Fig. 4 is a sectional view of Fig. 2 on the line X X.

In order to obtain access to the`show-boards D, for arranging the display, I mount the front glass, F, Fig. 1, in a frame, E, made to swing open on the hinges e; Theshowboards D are made removable, and ymay be fastened .with screws or adapted to slide in grooves in the frame B at the top and in the base A. Either one, two, or three sides of the cabinet may be used for display, as desired.
In the drawings, the front of the cabinet is adapted to open as a door, and the showboards D are adapted to slide out through this opening; but it is evident that the door E may be adapted to slide upward or at the side, if desired; also, that either or all of the three sides may be so arranged as to slide open. It is also evident that the show-boards D may be arranged to slide upward and out at the top of cabinet, if desired. I do not confine myself to the exact construction shown in the drawings, the object being to combine in a show or display case a receptacle to con tain the stock of goods or merchandise, sam ples of which are displayed.
The cabinet may be constructed of wood or any suitable material.
By means of this manner of combining both show-case and stock-cabinet economy of space ICO the base A, frame B, door E, glass sides F, and
drawers C, substantially as shown and described, and for the purpose specied.
2. In a combined stock-cabinet and showcase, the combination of the show-boards D, provided with tbehooks or pins d, and adapted to slide out; ab the bop of the case, the base A, frame B, drawers G, and glass sides F, substanbially as shown and described, and for the 1o purpose specified.
3. In a combined. stock-cabinet and case, the combination of the show-boards D, provided with the hooks or pins d,and adapted to slide in grooves in the top and base of the case, and to be removed at: the corners with 15 the .frame B, base A, drawers C, and glass sides F, substantially as shown and described, and for the purpose specified.
