Description

Aug. 10, 1965 w. H. SORENSEN ATTACHABLE CIGARETTE CASE Filed July 6, 1962 wmww INVENTOR- m L TER Hsoeslvsslv United States Patent 0 3,199,754 ATTACEIABLE CEGARETTE CASE Walter H. Sorensen, 3263 W. Woedlawn Ave, San Antonio 28, Tex. Filed .lnly 6, 1962, Ser. No. 2tl7,944 1 (Cl. 224-5) This invention relates to cigarette cases and more particularly to an attachable type cigarette case.
It is an object of the present invention to provide an attachable type cigarette case that will ca ry a standard pack of cigarettes eliminating the necessity of reloading a container and the entire package of cigarettes can be removed from the invention for replacement and, or for offering to friends, especially while seated.
Another obg ect of the present invention is to provide an attachable cigarette case that will be worn on the leg of the smoker and will be comfortable to wear.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide an attachable cigarette case that will efiiciently protect the cigarettes, and will have elastic bands for attachment that can be removed or replaced by ordinary garters which are easily obtained, and the cigarettes will be protected from perspiration and breakage.
A further obiect of the present invention is to provide an attachable cigarette case that will prevent bulges in the military mans uniform as the common types do thus the present invention eliminates objectionable conditions as well as being efficient and practical.
Other objects of the invention are to provide an attachable cigarette case bearing the above objects in mind which is of simple construction, has a minimum number of parts, is inexpensive to manufacture and efficient in operation.
For other objects and for a better understanding of the invention, reference may be had to the following detailed description, taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawing, in which:
FIGURE 1 is a perspective view of an attachable cigarette case comprising the present invention;
FIGURE 2 is a front elevational view of FIGURE 1;
FIGURE 3 is a perspective view of the present invention showing the underside and with the flap exposed; and
FIGURE 4 is a fragmentary side view shown in elevation of FIGURE 1.
Referring now more in detail to the drawing, an attachable type cigarette case 19 made in accordance with the present invention is shown to include a rectangular container 12 made of suitable material having parallel side walls 14, a front wall 16, and a rear wall 18. A bottom wall 26 of container 12 has a central circular opening 22 providing a means for removing a pack of cigarettes. A top cover and flap 24 hingedly extending from rear wall 18 has a two part snap fastener generally indicated by 26. The flap is received through elongated slit 28 of front wall 16. Flap 24 covers and protects cigarette package 30 within cigarette case 19. A plurality of foam rubber loops 32 are parallelly spaced apart and fixedly secured to rear wall 18 and slidably receive flexible and elastic leg straps 34. Leg straps 34- are adjustable by elongated loops 36 in a well known manner and one end of each strap 34 is terminated at 36, and is provided with an elongated loop 38 which freely receives a hook 40. At hook 40 the other end of straps 34 are terminated, thus adjustably securing the attachable type cigarette case to the wearers leg.
In operation, the wearer removes the flap 24 from within the slit 23 and inserts a package of cigarettes 30 within the case 10 and proceeds to place the flap 24 back Bdhdfldd Patented Aug. 19, 1965 into the slit 2%. He then places the straps 34 around his leg or arm and grasps the hook 4d stretching strap 34 until it hoolcingly engages loop 33. After engaging the hooks 4% of straps 34 he then holds the elongated loops 36 and adjusts the straps 34 until the cigarette case It is snug and comfortable on his limb.
It will thus be recognized that the elastic straps 34 are replaceable by sliding them from within the foam rubber loops 32.
it will further be noted that circular opening 22 within cigarette case it) provides a means for placing the Wearers finger into and thus urging up against cigarette package 35 so that it may be easily removed and replaced with a fresh package.
While various changes may be made in the detail construction, it shall be understood that such changes shall be within the spirit and scope of the present invention as defined by the appended claim.
What I claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent of the United States is:
An attachable type cigarette case comprising in combination a substantially rectangular container, said container, possessing six joined walls including a first front wall, a second and third side wall, a fourth back wall equal in height to said first wall, a fifth bottom wall spanning and attached to the bottom of said four walls, and a sixth top wall or cover spanning the tops of said first four walls and hingedly jointed only to said fourth back wall, but also hingedly joined to a downwardly directed flap of decreasing width, the height of said flap being slightly less than one-half the height of said front wall, said front wall having a horizontal slit therethrough at approximately onequarter the total height down from the top of said front wall, and of a length only slightly more than the average width of said flap, means to hold said cover in closed position comprising a two part snap fastener, including a first part including a finger button facing outwardly of said front wall and a button connected female snap grip facing inwardly of said front wall, said front wall portion of said snap fastener overlying the hidden lower part of said closed flap, the second part of said snap fastener including a male snap grip on the flap and directly aligned in closed flap position with and towards said first front wall part of the snap fastener, means carried by said case for securing it to the limb of a wearer and including at least one pair of horizontally aligned foam rubber loops each with an upper end and a lower end integrally fastened to said back wall, with an unattached bridging portion therebetween, a horizontal and adjustable length elastic strap freely received between said bridge portions of said loops and said back wall, said strap including movable rigid loop means on the strap portion adjacent one of said foam rubber loops to adjust the overall ength of said strap, and a co-operating rigid hook and rigid loop means on the strap portion and adjacent the other of said foam rubber loops to connect and disconnect portions of said adjusted strap.
