ATENT OFFICE.
DAVID B. WEIGHTMAN, OF GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN.
SPOUT-SIEVE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 307,822, dated November 11 1884.
(No model.)
To all whmn it may concern.-
Be it known that I, DAVID B. WEIGHTMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of Grand Rapids, in the county of Kent and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Spout-sieves; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to theletters and figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
The figure is a detailed view of my invention.
The object of said invention is to cleanse rain-water as it is discharged from the spout.
My invention consists of a strainer of spherical shape constructed as follows: The hemispheres of wire-cloth, J and G, are connected or soldered together bymeans of the band H, and an opening large enough to insert the end of a water conductor or spout being made in the top of the hemisphere G; and the collarE fitted therein, to which is fastened the bail D. The sieve thus constructed is hung upon the spout A overthe shoulder 0,: and when so placed removes from all W ater passing through it such coarse impurities or foreign matter as may be therein, ,and, being constructed as described, is capable of being removed and cleansed at will.
Having thus described my invention, I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States- In a spout-sieve, the combination of the Wire-c1oth hemispheres J and G, united by the baud H, with collar E and hail D, and adapted to hang upon shoulder O of spout A, asshown and described.
In testimony whereof I affiX my signature in presence of two witnesses.
DAVID B. WEIGHTMAN.
