As the drawing shows, the cooking mechanism, object of the invention, is substantially constituted by a hollow vtubular body 1, provided at its closed front end with a lateral guide groove 2 and at the rear end with two small ears 3 being crossed by a pivot 4. A helical striking spring 5 is contained in tubular member 1, wherein a rod 6 slidable along the axis of the spring-holder member 1 is located. The rear end of the rod 6 is shaped as a piston with a hemispheric recess and therein is seated for turning movement a lugr 7 of a triangularly slotted control member 8, another lug 9 of which is in turn articulated to the striking hammer 10, which rotates around the pivot 11.
The barrel-carrying breech piece 31 turns around a `.pivot 12 on the rear breech piece 30, and another pivot 13 is located in the groove 2 and xed on the barrelcarrying breech piece 31. The hammer is retained in cocked position by the point of a sear lever 14 loaded by a spring 16, resting on the pivot 17, which forces sear lever 14 against hammer 10. Sear 14 is released by trigger 25, 26 urging portion 26a against arm 14a of sear 14. A safety catch 27 cooperates with trigger 25, 26.
In the Figs. 2, 3 is represented a striker point 18 guided by a cylindrical head 19 integrally connected thereto by a bracket which ensures a regular sliding and furthermore an exact striking in spite of the head and striker point being located in two diierent planes. The weapon partly represented in Fig. 2 is a gun provided with two superposed barrels 31a shown in closed position after release of the right hammer (lower barrel). Fig. 3 shows the striker means 18, 19a, 20a for the second barrel and the members 3, 4 and 8 associated with the second barrel.
10, by rotating the moving breech piece 30 (see also Fig. 1) around the pivot 12, the pivot 13 carries forward the tubular spring-holder member 1 and consequently the pivot 4 and the triangularly slotted member 8, the head 9 of which rotates hammer 10 'into cocked position, wherein it is retained, as above mentioned, by the catch `lever 14, 15 under action of spring 16. At the same time, due to the displacement of parts 5, 7, 9, and 10 with regard to the pivot 4, member 8 turns and its bearing [point on the pivot 4 moves from the upper apex to the front lower apex of the triangular slot, see Fig. 7. Upon closing of the weapon, the spring-holder member 1 goes back, being driven by the pivot 13 sliding in the groove 2 and the springS is compressed. Member 8 remains stationary and so `does also hammer 10, being now under tension, but the bearing of pivot 4 moves in the triangular slot of member 8 from the front lower apex to the rear apex (see Figs. 5 and 6). Lastly upon release of sear lever 14 by means of the trigger 25, 26 overcoming the force of the small spring 16 bearing on pivot 17 of lever 14, hammer 19 no longer retained by the catch 15 and under pressure of the helical spring 5, turns to striking position and beats on the striker means 18, 19; at the same time member 8 moving together with hammer 10 goes back to the original position (see Fig. 2), so that the `joining point of its triangular slot with the pivot 4 moves from the rear apex to the upper front apex (see Figs. 2

Rod 6 has a projecting portion passing through a hole provided in the moving breech 30 and in contact with the release catch lever 24 of the automatic extractor 23 for turning catch lever 24 to release the extractor for operation when the gun is opened. In Fig. 7 is partly represented a gun provided with two juxtaposed barrels 31a also provided with the mechanism according to the invention and with two hammers 10, 10a.
The working of the mechanism in this caseis similar to that above mentioned; by closing the arm, the pressure of the striking helical spring 5 acts on the left hammer 10, whilst the spring-holder member 1, being driven by the pivot 13, moves back and the pivot 4 moves from the lower front apex to the rear apex of the triangular slotted member 8 (see also Fig. 6), and so on.
What I claim is:
l. In a breech loading firearm, in combination, a rear breech piece; a barrel-carrying breech piece pivotally mounted on said rear breech piece; a tubular member having a closed front end and being slidably mounted in said rear breech piece, said tubular member being connected to said barrel-carrying breech'piece for movement with the same; a piston slidable in said tubular member located in the region of the rear end thereof; a spring in said tubular member abutting against said closed end thereof and against said piston; a control member having a slot, said control-member having a forwardly located vcircular lug engaging a corresponding recess in said piston for turnably connecting said control member to said piston, said control member having a rearwardly located circular lug; a hammer pivotally mounted in said rear breech piece for movement between a cocked position and a striking position and having a recess receiving said rearwardly located lug for turnably connecting said hammer and said control member; a sear for holding said hammer in said cocked position and mounted on said rear breech piece; a trigger for releasing said sear; and a transverse pin secured to said tubular member at the rear end thereof and passing through said slot, said pin being located transversely spaced from the axis of said tubular member whereby tilting of said barrel-carrying breech eiects forward movement of said tubular member, said pin, and said control member while said spring is compressed by said piston, and said hammer is turned Patented oct. 1s, V1959A in said slot of said control member while said piston isV held by said controlmember and cocked hammerso that saidspring is tensioned so that upon release of said hammerby said sear, saidV hammer is turned by said-spring and said control member to said striking position and said control member assumes a position in which said pin is located in a forward portion of said slot.
2. Ina breech loading firearm, in combination, a rear breech piece; a barrel-carrying breech piece pivotally mounted on said rear breech piece; a tubular member having a closed front end and being slidably mounted in said rear breech piece, said tubular member being connected to said barrel-carrying breech piece for movement with the same; a piston slidable in said tubular member located in the region of the rearend thereof; a spring' in said tubular member abutting against said closed end thereof and against said piston; a control member having a triangular slot, said control member having a forwardly located circular lug engaging a corresponding recess in said piston for turnably connecting said control member to said piston, said control member having a rearwardly located kcircular lug; a hammer pivotally mounted in said rear breech piece for movement between a cocked position and a striking position and having a recess receiving said rearwardly located lug for turnably connecting said hammer and said control member; a sear for holding said hammer in said cocked position' and mounted on said rear breech piece; a trigger for releasing said sear; and a transverse pin secured to said tubular member at the rear end thereof and passing through' said triangular slot, said pin being located transversely spaced from the axis of said tubular member whereby tilting of said barrel-carrying breech piece effects forward movement of said tubular member, said pin, and said control memberwhile said springis compressed by said piston, and said hammer is turned from said striking position to said cocked position so that said sear locks said hammer, with said control member moving in transverse direction so that said pin slides on a forwardly located transverse edge of said triangular slot, while straightening of said of said 'tubular member with said pin rearwardly moving barrel-carrying breech piece effects rearward movement in said triangular slot of saidfcontrol member while said piston is held by said control member and cocked hammer so that said spring is tensioned so that upon release of said hammer by said sear, said hammer is turned by said spring and said control member to said striking position and. saidcontrol memberassumes a positiomin which said pin is located ina forward portion of said slot.
wherein said closed front end of said tubular member has anopening, and including a rod secured to said piston and having a part located in said tubular member, and a projecting partprojectingthrough said opening and toward said barrel-carrying breech piece; and including an extractor device mounted on said barrel-carrying breech piece and actuated by-said projecting part of said rod.
. 4. A iirearm as set forth in claim 3 whereinv said extractor device includes a catch lever controlled by said projecting part of said rod.
5. A breech loading firearm as set forth in claim 2 wherein said hammer has a shoulder, and wherein said sear includes avpivoted lever having a point engaging said shoulder in the cocked position of said hammer, a pivot supporting said lever, and a spring abutting on said pivot and said lever and Vurging the same against said hammer, andrwhere'in said trigger lis movable to an actuated position for turning said lever to a position releasing said shoulder.
