UNITED STATES PATENT FFICE.
\VILLIAM CRONK, OF HAVANA, NEW YORK.
STAY-ROLLER FOR SLlDlNG DOORS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 288,981, dated November 27, 1883. Application filed January 24, 1883. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, TILLIAM ORONK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Havana, in the county of Schuyler and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in DoorStay Rollers, of which the fol lowing is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in door-stay rollers, in which adjustments are made by an adjustable roller-head; and the object of my invention is to provide an adj ustable stay-roller perfect in operation and more durable than thoseheretofore made. I attain this object by the mechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of the entire device, showing a section of door and mode of fastening. Fig. 2 isa detail. plan view of roller head-piece. Fig. 3 is a side view of same. Fig. 4 is an end view of same. Figs. 5 and 6 are side and plan views of the legs or braces to my roller.
Similar letters refer to similar parts throughoutthe several views.
A A represent two similar pieces having countersunk holes at their foot ends, and bent as shown in Fig. 5, so when placed in position they stand bracing toward each other, and con stitute the legs or braces to my device.
B represents the roller head-piece, provided with a stud, D, projecting therefrom, upon I which the roller 0 rolls and is made to stay by slipping on a washer and upsetting the end of stud, as shown in Fig. 1. I groovethe sides S S, Fig. 4, of this head-piece B in shape to correspond with the head end of the braces A A, that these ends may nicely fit to slide into the groove, and with the bolt E, which passes through these braces and the slot 0 in the head-piece, Fig. 3, can clamp the headpiece B, carrying roller 0, at any point of adjustment as it slides back and forth between the braces A A. By this construction the bolt E receives no loosening force from the door, which is not the case with other devices of this kind.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and wish to secure by Letters Patent, is
In an adjustable stayroller for sliding doors, the head-pieceB, having horizontally-parallel grooved sides S S, stud D, and horizontal slot 0, in combination with the wrought iron arms AA, having bolt E, passing horizontally through the outer ends of arms A A and roller 0, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
