Among the drawbacks and disadvantages of the conventional arrangements are the frequent separation of the invidual envelopes from the bound pack, the difliculty of accessibility to the individual en velopes and the diificulty in satisfactorily attaching and detaching the book of envelopes to the wallet per se.

It is thus a principal object of the present invention to provide an improved Wallet.

Another object of the present invention is to provide an improved wallet carrying a plurality of envelopes.

Still another object of the present invention is to provide an improved wallet carrying a bound stack of envelopes which may be readily attached and detached as a unit from the wallet per se.

A further object of the present invention is to provide an improved Wallet detachably carrying a stack of envelopes, the individual envelopes being easily and readily accessible.

Still a further object of the present invention is to provide an improved wallet detachably carrying a stack of individually accessible envelopes, said wallet being characterized by its simple, inexpensive and rugged construction.

The above and other objects of the present invention will become apparent from a reading of the following description, taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, wherein Figure 1 is a top perspective view of the improved wallet, the envelope book being illustrated in extracted position With the individual leaves spread apart;

Figure 2 is a top perspective view of the envelope book illustrated in closed position;

Figure 3 is a top plan view, partially broken away for convenience of illustration, showing the wallet in open position with the envelope book inserted in the auxiliary pocket; and

Figure 4 is a sectional view taken along line 4--'& in Figure 3.

In a sense, the present invention contemplates the provision of an improved wallet comprising a pair of superimposed main inner and outer panels secured to each other along a plurality of contiguous edges to define a principal pocket, means including a supplementary panel carried by one of said main panels and forming an auxiliary pocket including an inner wall and an outer Wall defined by said auxiliary panel, and open along a longitudinal and transverse edge thereof and closed along United htates atent the opposite longitudinal and transverse edges, a plurality of superimposed rectangular open-ended envelopes, a pivot member rotatably engaging and securing said superimposed envelopes adjacent to coinciding corners thereof. a first snap fastener element mounted on said pivot member and a second snap fastener member complementary to said first snap fastener member mounted on a wall of said auxiliary pocket adjacent the intersection of an open and closed edge thereof and releasably engaging said first snap fastener member.

Referring now to the drawings which illustrate a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the numeral 10 designates the wallet per so which may be formed of leather, plastic or othertsuitable flexible material, and includes a pair of superimposed outer and inner panels 12 and 14 respectively, secured to each other along their end edges 16 and along the bottom. longitudinal edges 18 to form a principal bill-receiving pocket 20 open at the upper edges thereof. 7

An auxiliary panel 22 is superimposed upon the inner wall 14 and is provided with an end flap 24 folded under the supplementary panel 22 and passing through a corresponding opening 26 formed in the inner wall 14 adjacent and parallel to end edge 16 thereof and a second longitudinally extending fiap 28 folded under the lower edge of supplementary panel 22 and inserted through a corresponding longitudinally extending slit formed adja cent and parallel to the lower edge 18 of inner wall 14.

Panel 22 thus defines the front Wall of an auxiliary pocket 30 of substantially rectangular configuration located on inner wall 14 of wallet 10 and extending a distance somewhat l-ess than half the length thereof, the outer end edge and the lower edge of pocket 30 being closed and the upper edge and inner end edge being open. The upper edge and the inner edge of panel 22 are joined by a concave arcuate edge 32 to provide a recess permitting accessibility to pocket 30 through'front wall 22 thereof.

There is provided a book 34 of open-ended envelopes 36, each of envelopes 36 being preferably formed of a rectangular sheet of transparent plastic material, such as cellulose acetate folded over to form a flat open-ended tube having abutting front and rear walls one of the walls having a flap folded inwardly to overlap the outer face of the opposite wall. The edges of the envelopes may be heat-set in a conventional manner. The envelopes 36 are superimposed one on the other and are maintained in an assembled condition by means of a pin 40 passing through corresponding aligned openings formed in the envelopes 36 adjacent to their upper corner so as to permit the swinging or rotation of the individual envelopes about pin 40. Pin 40 is provided with spaced peripheral flanges 42 to maintain the envelopes in assembled condition. The upper flange 42 carries a separable fastener male element 44 of conventional configuration. A snap fastener female element .46 is mounted on auxiliary pocket front wall 22 adjacent the upper outer corner thereof and has its engaging recess facing the interior of pocket 30. The conventional securing cap member 48 locks the snap fastener female element in position.

The assembled book 34 of envelopes 36 is enclosed by a cover or folder member 50 having a front wall 52 and a rear wall 54 joined along their lower edges, rear Wall 54 having an opening adjacent to its outer upper corner registering with pin 40. The outer upper corner of cover front wall 52 is cut-away as at 56 to clear snap fastener male member 44. The cover front and rear walls 52 and 54- are of slightly lesser dimensions than envelopes 36, the rear wall 54 being provided with upwardly projecting longitudinally spaced tabs 58. The cover 50 may be formed of paper or other suitable material and, if desired, may be simply separated from the book 34 by slipping it out of engagement with the pin 40'which re sults in severing of the edge of the rear wall 54.

In use, the book 34 of envelopes 36 with or without the cover 50 is nested in auxiliary pocket 30, fastener members 44 and 46 being in engaged relationship as illustrated in Figure 4 of the drawing. The individual envelopes 36 may be swung into open vposition by manipulation thereof through the recess formed in the upper outer corner of the auxiliary pocket front wall 22. The entire book 34 may be simply removed from the pocket 30 by disengaging snap fastener male element 44 from the complementary female element 46 and slipping the book 34 from auxiliary pocket 30. The book 34 may be reinserted in reverse manner.

While there has been described and illustrated a preferred embodiment of thepresent invention, it is apparent that numerous alterations and omissions may be made without departing from the spirit thereof.

I claim:

1. In a wallet comprising a pair of superimposed main inner and outer panels secured to each other along a plurality of contiguous edges to define a principal pocket, means including a supplementary panel carried by one of said main panels and forming an auxiliary pocket including an inner wall and an outer wall defined by said auxiliary panel and open along a longitudinal and transverse edge thereof and closed along the opposite longitudinal and transverse edges, a pass case comprising a panel folded along a transverse line to define a cover having a front wall and a rear wall, a plurality of superimposed rectangular open-ended envelopes sandwiched between said cover front wall and rear wall, a pivot member rotatably engaging and securing said superimposed envelopes and one of said cover Walls adjacent to coinciding corners thereof, a first snap fastener element mountedon said pivot member and a second snap fastener member complementary to said first snap fastener member mounted on a wall of said auxiliary pocket adjacent the intersection of an open and closed edge thereof and releasably engaging said first snap fastener member.

2. In a wallet in accordance with claim 1, wherein said second snap fastener element is mounted on said auxiliary pocket outer wall defined by said auxiliary panel.

3. In a wallet in accordance with claim 1, said pass case including a plurality of laterally spaced tabs projecting from an edge of one of said cover walls.
