Description

R P 0 H E I N E a d 0 M 0 m PORTABLE MUSIC STAND.
Patented 0st. 31, 1882.
S v I i Ill Si, I WI! INVENTOR I ATTORNEY WITNESSES QKWNV LMW NITE TATES HENRY NIEHOFF, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
PORTABLE MUSIC-STAND.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 266,715, dated October 31, 1882.
Application filed March 16, 1882.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, HENRY NIEHoFF, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Portable Music-Stands, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has reference to an improved portable music-stand which can be attached on removing the legs, to a piano, railing, bench, or other suitable support, and which can, after use, be folded away into a very small and compact space; and the invention consists of a music-stand made of a standard with detachable legs and a folding rack, said standard having sockets for attaching the ends of bracket-arms, the outer ends of which are provided with detachable clamp-pieces, whereby the entire stand may be attached to any suitable point of support.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents a perspective view of my improved music-stand, shown in position for use as a common stand; and Fig. 2 is a perspective view, shown as applied without legs. to a piano or other suitable support.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A represents the hollow standard of my im- DTOXGtl music-stand, which is provided at the lower end with sockets and detachable legs in the usual manner. The tubular standard A is The up- (No model.)
per end of the extension-rod A carries the folding mnsiorack B.
When the music-stand is to be used without the legs the standard A is applied by bracketarms E, having bent ends, to the side sockets,
cl, of the standard A, and to sockets g at the sides of U-shaped clamp-pieces E, which are secured by set-screws g either to the piano, bench, table, or other suitable point of support, one of the sockets, g, of the clamps being at right angles to the others, so that the clamppieces can be used horizontally or vertically, as required. In this manner the stand may be used with equal facility at indoor and outdoor occasions, it being adapted for application to any support not liable to be blown down by wind, and very com'eniently carried, as it can be folded up, after use, into a small and easilyhandled package.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by LettersPatent- The combination of a niusic stand having a standard, A, with fixed side sockets, d d, supporting bracket-arms E, having bent ends, and clamp-pieces E, having sockets g g and setscrcws g, substantially as set forth.
In testimony that Iclaim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
HENRY NI'EIIOFF.
