signor to The Eagle Lock Company, Terryville,
Conn, a corporation of Connecticut Application October 22, 1952, Serial No. 816,152
6 Claims.
This invention relates to a laminated lock and more particularly to a novel construction for laminated padlocks of the class shown in the copending application of Norman J. Vile, Serial No. 273,000, filed February 23, 1952.
It is an object of this invention to provide novel means for securing a name plate or the like to the body of a laminated look.
A further object is to provide means for setion is formed of a substantially soft bendable sheet metal and preferably comprises a plate portion l4 having a surrounding flange it which extends perpendicularly to the plate portion.
When the laminations are juxtapositioned and secured together by the rivets 6 to form the body of the lock, a recess [6 will be provided in the face of the lock and the said recess will be surrounded by an inwardly extending groove havcurely attaching a name plate to the side of the 10 ing laterally deflected inner portions. In order lock bod in an inexpensive manner and to ento attach the name plate to the lock body, it hance th e appearance of the look without unduly is necessary only to place the said name plate increasing the cost of its construction. in the recess and then force the plate against A still further object is to provide improved the bottom of the recess. This will cause the means for attachi a na e plate Which W 5 surrounding flange E5 to enter the groove which prevent the name Plate from being pried off the surrounds the said recess and then be deflected lock body by the insertion of a tool under the laterally thereby so as to firmly secure the said ed es of the late. name plate to the body in such a manner that l urther olgects and advantages of this invenit cannot be easily detached therefrom. tion will be more clearly understood from the I claim; followin de rip i n d the mp y 1.
