This invention relates to devices of the type and kind used in making out sales slips of various kinds, wherein a portable device isemployed anda definite record maintainedjof all lsales, within the device. More particularly, the invenvention deals'with a portable device of the .characterdescribed wherein the recorded. or locked copy sheet is drawn from a folded pile ,and wound upon a receiving reel. Further, wherein the .initial' sales slip "is automatically discharged from thezdevice and arranged by hand,.upon a. writing, surface of the device, .said surfaceincluding a sheet of transfer material for transferring the recordings of the sale sheets to the copy sheet. Still more particularly, the [invention deals with a device. of the character described wherein a simple'lmeanslis provided for discharging the sale slips one at a time during the operation of positioninga new copy sheet .in'the Writing or recording. area of the device.

indicated in Fig. 3, and includes curved bearing portions adjacent the ends thereof, one of which is seen at 32, in Fig. 4, these bearing portions engaging the pin 22 in pivotal support of the cover member.
A suitable coil spring 33 is mounted on the pin 22 adjacent one end of the cover 29 and engages the cover to normally support the same in closed position. The primary cover I2 is recessed, as seen at 3 1, for reception of the flap closure or supplemental cover 29 and is arranged to lie flushly therein, as will clearly appear from a consideration of Fig. 1. However, the flap 29 is extended in the manner later described, to open position in the operation of automatically projecting a sales slip from the device.
Arranged within the body part of the casing is a tray-like receptacle 35 upon which is supported a folded stack or pile of copy sheets 36 which are adapted to be withdrawn from the container tray 35 and wound upon a receiving spool 31, in the manner later described. Supported at the contracted end of the tray 35 is a transversely disposed channel-shaped member 38, over which and partially within which is arranged a cylinder 38, preferably with a frictional shaft 44. The major portion of the shaft 44 is split to receive a flexible and friction type feed vein or flap .5 which controls automatic projection of sales tickets d6 one at a time through the opening 34 of the cover, as later described. The shaft 44 has suitable bearings in the side walls I4 and I5, as will be apparent.
Slidably mounted on the wall I l adjacent the end I8 of the device is a cam plate 67 for actuating the flap or supplemental cover 29. The plate 4! has a cam surface d8 operatively engaging the surface (H in accomplishing this result, as will be clearly seen in Fig. 4. A rivet pin 69 operates in an elongated aperture 56 inthe plate 41 in guiding the movement thereof and also in limiting movement in both directions. '67 has an upwardly offset shoulder portion 5| The plate which is adapted to be engaged by a roller or pin "52' secured to the outer surface of the gear 53 adjacent the periphery thereof, so that in each 'revolutionof the gear, the plate 4? will be advanced to move the flap 29 into open position. Thespring on the flap 29 returns the same auto matically to closed positionand this spring also moves the plate 4'! inwardly.

Secured to the inner surface of the gear 433 is 4 a stop pin as which, when the mechanism is at rest, seats upon the upper edge of a spring arm iii, secured to the wall I i, as at 62. On the arm 6| is secured a button 53. The arm GI is tensioned to normally maintain the same in position to be engaged by the pin 86. However, by pressin inwardly upon the button 63, the pin 60 is released to facilitate rotation of the gear is.
The sales tickets 15 are arranged in a compartment 64 disposed below the tray or receptacle 35, the bottom wall of the receptacle 35 being cut out to form two downwardly extending stops, one of which is shown at 65 in Fig. 1, which limits inward movement of the tickets d6. At the end portion 88 of the device, the bottom wall of the receptacle 35 has forwardly directed angular extensions 66 which guide side edges of the tickets 46 into and out of the compartment M. In one ,side of the compartment and engaging one side edge of the tickets, is a suitable friction pad 6'! and engaging the opposite side edge of the tickets is a long spring arm 68, note Fig. 2. The arm 68 urges the tickets in engagement with the friction member 6? so that all of the tickets are held against displacement, and an uppermost ticket only can be forcibly withdrawn or projected by the member 55.
The cover I2 has a large rectangular opening 89, as may be clearly seen in Fig. 3 of the drawing, one end of the opening being defined by an upwardly turned or extending retainer flange IE3 and on the cover adjacent the other end of the opening are two sales ticket aligning pins ll. Mounted in connection with the 'cover to close the opening 69 is an inked ribbon sheet 72, similar in structure to conventional typewriter ribbon, in other words having properties to transfer script markings from one sheet to-an underlying sheet. The sheet if is held in position by a bordering frame 73, clearly illustrated in Fig. 7 of the drawing. Adjacent the flange 10, a hinge or pivot pin it is supported in the walls I4 and I5 and pivotally mounted on the pin is a backing sheet I5, which forms a Writing surface or sheet supporting surface. The plate I5 has at its free end lateral extensions 75 which engage notched portions ll on the side walls of the receptacle 35, in alining the plate in the device and also in providing a support for the plate.
Mounted on the pivot rod 7'3, centrally thereof, is a loop-shaped spring la which is adapted to bear against the copy sheet 36, where it is wound upon the spool 3? to maintain this sheet under tension at all times.
The upper wall of the cover I2, adjacent and between the pin H has a window opening 19 through which a sales ticket number on the copy sheet 36 will appear. It will be understood that this number will correspond to the number on the sales ticket disposed upon the top of the device. The ticket as preferably includes a thin tissue-like, or transparent backing 46, which is indicated only in Fig. 3, in order to simplify the showing. The backing sheet 58 is employed in forming a second copy sheet. This sheet or the ticket 56 can be given to the customer and the other retained for the files. Each ticket 46, including its backing, has a pair of apertures spaced to fit upon the alining pins ll, whereas the other ends of the ticket sheets are adapted to be placed beneath the flange l8, when said sheets are mounted in position for use.
Slidably mounted in the end portion I9 of the device and on the bottom wall I I, is a yoke-shaped lock plate 8i, having side arms 82, held in positionupon the bottom wall by inturned keepers 83,. stamped from the walls I l and I5. The free end of thecover 12 has at its sides, inwardly extending flanges 8 1, over which the arms 82 are arranged to hold and positively retain the cover against swinging opening movement. A crosshead 85 of the yoke-shaped lock plate Bl has centrally thereof, an aperture 85, note Fig. 1, adapted to be engaged by a key actuated lock element 81 which is operated through a suitable key lock mechanism 88 supported upon the bottom wall ll of the device. In Fig. l, the parts are. shown in locked position. However, when the lock mechanism 38 is operated, the element 81 will draw the arms 82 inwardly sufiiciently to release the flanges 34, permitting the cover 12 to be swung into open position on its pivot 32.
The spool 31 comprises two substantially similar spool halves 8d8i', each having a disc end 9i)-9il, the latter having circumferentially spaced apertures 9!. Secured centrally of each disc is a rod or spindle part 92-32 having a bevelled surface 9393 and a notched or recessed central portion fi l-94, the latter forming a copy sheet end receiving aperture, as indicated at 31 in Fig. l of the drawing. Each spool disc @fi90' has in alinement with the surface of the rod 9 2-422, an arc-shaped aperture 9595' adapted to receive the tapered end Eta% of the opposed part. In other words, in assembling the spool halves, the two halves are forced together with their bevelled surfaces abutting with the ends 9696 wedged into the apertures 95 and 95, respectively. This maintains the spool assemblage. However, after a complete copy sheet length has been wound upon the spool, the spool is removed, and the halves Bil-89 pulled apart, thus leaving a cylindrical roll of the copy sheets, which can be filed away for recording, or other u o es.-
The spool 3'! is mounted in the device by engaging one end of the spool with a crank or drive shaft 91 supported in connection with the wall IS, the shaft having an end 98 engaging a central aperture in one of the discs 96-9fl, one of these apertures being shown at 99 on the disc 93 in Fig. 6. A corresponding aperture in the other disc of the spool is engaged by a pin end I09 of a spring-arm ms, note Fig. 2. The spring arm It]! forces the spool into and retains the same in engagement with the end 98 of the shaft 91 The shaft 31 outwardly of the wall I5 has a ,suitable operating means, such for example, as aerank {B2 and on the inner end of the shaft is an arm I 93, having a pin end I04 engaging one of the apertures 9l-I of one of said discs. It willbe understood that the spool is universal with respect to its mounting in the device so that either disc end can be engaged by the pin end of the arm l 03, which acts as a supplemental crank arm.
In the use of the device, the cover I2 is swung into open position and the sup-porting table I5 swung intoraised position and a folded sheet stack of the copy sheets 36 arranged in the receptacle 35, in the manner illustrated in Fig. 1. One end of the sheet is then threaded downwardly around the cylinder 39 and the table member 15 is swung into its operative position, the sheet is then brought upwardly over the table member and the end of the sheet 31 is preferably provided, by pre-arrangement, with a reduced tongue or flapend, as for example, commonly used with photographic .filrn. This end is then passed hm shthe a erture. .3 o he. srqql. t and. the
spool is turned, by hand, untilthe first sheet36 is brought into a predetermined :positionon the table 15. Suitable means may be provided on the sheet 36 to gage this positioning. When s0 positioned, the stop pin [ill is in the locked position, as seen in Fig. 4 of the drawing. The deviceis also loaded with a predetermined number of sales tickets it which are disposed in the compartment 6%. This can be done when the cover. 12 Bin the open position or can also be accomplished after the cover has been closed and the supplementalcover or closure flap, which may'also be termed a door, is manually moved by the bar. 53 into, open position.
When the device is loaded in the manner described, the. cover l2is moved into closed position and locked through the lock mechanism 88. The device is now ready for use.
In use, the button 63 is first pushed inwardly to, release the lock pin 66. While held in this position with one hand, the crank I02 is operated with the other hand, and after crank action has been started, the button 63 can be released and the crank is rotated until such time that the pin (it! again engages the spring arm BI and the mechanism is at rest. This operation has now drawn the first copy sheet 36 in position beneath the carbon or transfer sheet 12 and a number on the sheet 3% will appear in the opening 79.
During the aforesaid operation, the gear 43 will have completed one revolution, returning the stop pin till to the position shown in Fig. 4. During this revolution, the flexible friction ticket delivery member 45 will have been flexedbetween the supporting rod or shaft 4t and the surface of the yoke or channel member 38 and then released to establish frictional engagement with the uppermost sales ticket at, in the manner diagrammatically shown in Fig. 5. Simultaneously upon the engagement of the member 45 with the sales ticket and in starting outward feed or delivery of the uppermost ticket, the pin 52 engages the shoulder all on the plate 41 and automatically moves the flap or door 29 into open position. The uppermost ticket is sufficiently projected by the member 5 to be freely grasped by the hand and the operator withdraws this ticket, after which the flap or door 29 automatically moves into closed position. This last operation again returns the plate to its normal position.
The removed ticket &5 will have the same number thereon as the copy sheet ticket disposed beneath the opening 69. The sales ticket is then mounted beneath the flange HI and upon the pins H and the device is now ready for recording of the first sale. In making the next sale, the above cycle of operation is repeated, and a second copy ticket is brought in position beneath the opening 59, another sales ticket removed and placed in position upon the device and in this second operation, the first copy ticket is automatically wound upon the spool $27. This operation continues until such time as the sales tickets 46 are consumed, whereupon the operator automatically and manually opens the flap or door 29 and places the next series of sales tickets in the compartment 64 and this operation continues until the copy sheet tickets have been consumed or substantially so. It will be understood from the foregoing, that the sales tickets 45 are of a heavier structure than the copy sheet tickets 36, and therefore, a greater number of the copy sheets 36 can be included in the device, but the procedure outlined is not objecion e an f et d sirable fromthestandr and one with a minimum thickness.
point of maintaining a relatively light device After the first folded stock of copy tickets 36 has been consumed and wound on the spool 31, the device is turned in to the office or clerk for keeping the recordings and the device is unlocked, the spool removed, as heretofore stated, and a new stack will be placed in the device for further use by the sales clerk.
In sales ticket devices, machines or apparatus of the kind defined, it has been customary to employ relatively large machines having means for feeding a number of sheets upon a writing surface, the sheets generating from rolls or piles. In some instances, means have been provided for storage of copy sheets or tickets in what might be termed'a locked copy writer or machine. In most instances, these machines have been so heavy and bulky as to require counter use thereof. Furthermore, the machines have been complicated and thus expensive in initial purchase and further in maintenance thereof.
With my improved simple and portable device, the desired application of noting sales on sales slips and keeping a definite locked copy record thereof is simplified and accomplished in a manner where the device can be utilized on a counter or conveniently carried about and supported in the hand, in the operation of recording sales. One of the distinctive features in this device resides in the use of sales tickets or sheets which are automatically projected from the device in the operation of positioning a copy sales sheet in the device with which the projected sheet has a definite association and relationship and in the manual placement of the sales ticket or sheet on the machine and removal of the same therefrom when the sale has been completed. Furthermore, the utilization of the split spool upon which the locked copy is wound is a distinctive feature of the invention from the standpoint that it provides a simple and practical means for removal of the copy sheet, in a roll, from the machine by an authorized individual for safekeeping and for checking with sales made. This method of procedure insures a more perfect control and recording of all sales, particularly in that the locked copy is not available to the sales person and cannot be tampered with in any way. Still further, the provision of the manual means for opening the compartment in which sales tickets are arranged enables the sales person to replenish the sales ticket supply from time to time during a period of a continued recording of sales on the locked copy sales slip.
In considering the operation of my improved device, it will be understood that the drive from the winding spool to the gear mechanism of the device is through the medium of the copy sheet which has its frictional engagement with the drive cylinder. Thus, feed is governed by the length of the copy sheet so that numerals of successive sheets will be brought into register ing alinement with the opening in the cover and independent of winding of the sheet upon the spool. In other words, having definitely controlled positioning of the copy sheet. No possible difliculty can be experienced with respect to registrations of the sales ticket sheets therewith in that the latter is at all times manually placed in a definite predetermined position on the device and with respect to said copy sheet.
It will be apparent that the sheet or fabric forming the transfer sheet 12 may be adhesively or otherwise attached to the frame 13, and thus form a unit attachable and detachable with respect to the cover. This particular attachment can be accomplished in any desired manner.
While I have referred to the use of sales tickets of heavy stock, it will be understood that this is desirable only in some uses of the device, where the ticket is subject to rough handling.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
l. A device of the class described comprising an elongated casing formed from a body part of U-shaped cross-sectional form and a cover part forming a closure for the first named part, means hingedly mounting one end of the cover part to the corresponding end of the body part, the cover part having a large opening forming a writing field therein, a transfer element disposed in said field, a table member in said body part beneath and spaced from said field and element, means within the body part for storing an elongated strip of paper characterized to form a successive series of copy sheets, said strip being adapted to pass between said element and table member, means comprising a spool in one end portion of the body part for winding said sheet to feed successive copy sheets in predetermined registered position beneath said writing field and element and upon said table member, the body part having means for storing a plurality of independent sales tickets therein, said casing having an opening, through which a ticket is adapted to pass, and means actuated by said strip winding means in feed of one of said copy sheets to said predetermined position for projecting one of said sales tickets from the device to be accessible for manual withdrawal therefrom.
2. A device of the class described comprising an elongated casing formed from a body part of U-shaped cross-sectional form and a cover part forming a closure for the first named part, means hingedly mounting one end of the cover part to the corresponding end of the body part, the cover part having a large opening forming a writing field therein, a transfer element disposed in said field, a table member in said body part beneath and spaced from said field and element, means within the body part for storing an elongated strip of paper characterized to form a successive series of copy sheets, said strip being adapted to pass between said element and table member, means comprising a spool in one end portion of the body part for winding said sheet to feed successive copy sheets in predetermined registered position beneath said writing field and element and upon said table member, the body part having means for storing a plurality of independent sales tickets therein, said casing having an opening, through which a ticket is adapted to pass, means actuated by said strip winding means in feed of one of said copy sheets to said predetermined position for projecting one of said sales tickets from the device to be accessible for manual withdrawal therefrom, and means bordering said writing field for alining and supporting the withdrawn ticket over said field in registering position with said sheet.
3. A device of the class described comprising an elongated casing formed from a body part of U-shaped cross-sectional form and a cover part forming a closure for the first named part, means hingedly mounting one end of the cover part to the corresponding end of the body part, the cover part having a large opening forming a writing field therein, a transfer element disposed in said field, atable member in said body part beneath and spaced from said field andelemerit, means within the body part for storing an elongated strip of paper characterized to formu a successive series of'copy sheets, said strip being adapted to pass between said element and table member, means comprising a spool in one end portion of the body part for winding said sheet to feed successive copy sheets in predetermined registered position beneath said writing fieldand element and upon said table mem ber, the body part having means for storing a plurality of independent sales tickets therein, said casing having an opening, through which a ticket is adaptedto pass, means actuated by said strip winding means in feedof one of said copy sheets to said predetermined position for projecting one of said sales tickets from the device to be accessible for manual withdrawal therefrom, means borderingsaid writing field for alining and supporting the withdrawn ticket over said field in registering positionwith said sheet, a cylinder frictionally engaged by said strip, and means actuated by said cylinder controlling and checking extent of feed of the strip in the device.
4. A device of the class describe-d comprising an elongated casing formed from a body part of U-shaped cross-sectional form and a cover part forming a closure for the first named part, means hingedly mounting one end of the cover part to the corresponding end of the body part, the cover part having a large opening forming a writing field therein, a transfer element disposed in said field, a table member in said body part beneath and spaced from said field and element, means within the body part for storing an elongated strip of paper characterized to form a successive series of copy sheets, said strip being adapted to pass between said element and table member, means comprising a spool in one end portion oi the body part for winding said sheet to feed successive copy sheets in predetermined registered position beneath said writing field and element and upon said table member, the body part having means for storing a plurality of independent sales tickets therein, said casing having an opening, through which a ticket is adapted to pass, means actuated by said strip winding means in feed of one of said copy sheets to said predetermined position for projecting one of said sales tickets from the device to be accessible for manual withdrawal therefrom, means bordering said writing field for all g and supporting the withdrawn ticket over field in registering position with said sheet, a cylinder frictionally engaged by said strip, means actuated by said cylinder controlling the checking extent of feed of the strip in the device, a spring actuated door controlling an opening through which a sales ticket is projected, and manually actuated means for moving said door into open position.
5. A device of the class described comprising an elongated casing formed from a body part of U-shaped cross-section form and a cover part forming a closure for the first named part, means hingedly mounting one end of the cover part to the corresponding of the body the cover part having a large opening forming a writing field therein, a transfer element disposed in said field, a table member in said body part beneath and spaced from said field and element, means within the body part for storing an elongated strip of paper characterized to form a successive series of copy sheets, said strip being adapted to pass between said element and table member, means comprising a spool in one end 10 portion of the body part for winding said sheet to feed successive copy sheetsin predetermined registered position beneath said writing field and element and upon said table member, the body part having means for storing a plurality of independent sales tickets therein, said casing having an opening, through which a ticket is adapted to pass, means actuated by said strip winding means in feed of one of said copy sheets to said predetermined positionfor projecting one ofsaid sales tickets from the device to be accessible for manual withdrawal therefrom, means bordering said writing field for alining and supporting the withdrawn ticket over said field in registering position with said sheet, a cylinder frictionally engaged by said strip, means actuated by'said cylinder controllingthe checking extent of feed of controlling an opening through which a 'sales ticket is projected, manually actuated means for moving said door into-open position, and said table member being pivotally supported inthe body part.

A device of the class described comprising an elongated casing formed from a body part of U-shaped cross-sectional form and a cover part forming a closure for the first named part, means hingedly mounting one end of the cover part to the corresponding end of the body part, the cover part having alarge opening forming a writing field therein, a transfer element disposed in said field, a table member in said body part beneath and spaced from said field and element, means within the body part for storing an elongated 5 strip of paper characterized to form a successive series of copy sheets, said strip being adapted to pass between said element and table member, means comprising a spool in one end portion of the body part for winding sai-dsheet to feedsuccessive cop-y sheets in predetermined'registered position beneath said writing field and element and upon said table member, the body part having means for storing a plurality of independent sales tickets therein, said casing having an opening, through which a ticket is adapted to pass,
means actuated by saidstrip winding means in feed of one of said copy sheets to said predetermined position for projecting one of said sales tickets from the device to be accessible for manua-lwithdrawaltheretrom, means bordering said writing field for, aliningand supporting the withdrawn ticket over said field in'registering position with said sheet, -a-cylinderfrictionally engaged by-said strip; means-actuated by said cylinder congtrolling the checking extent of feed of the strip inthe device, a spring actuated door controlling an openingthrough which a sales ticket is projected, manually actuated means for moving said-door into open position, said table member being pivotally supported in the body part, and tensional means engaging the copy sheet wound on said spool to maintain the sheet in taut position in the device at all times.
7. A device of the class described comprising an elongated casing formed from a body part of U-shaped cross-sectional form and a cover part forming a closure for the first named part, means hingedly mounting one end of the cover part-to the corresponding end of the body part, the cover 7 part having a large opening forming a writing field therein, a transfer element disposed in said field, a table member in said body part beneath and spaced from said field and element, means within the body part or storing an elongated 7 strip of paper characterized to form a successive series of copy sheets, said strip being adapted to pass between said element and table member, means comprising a spool in one end portion of the body part for winding said sheet to feed successive copy sheets in predetermined registered position beneath said writing field and element and upon said table member, the body part having means for storing a plurality of independent sales tickets therein, said casing having an opening, through which a ticket is adapted to pass, means actuated by said strip winding means in feed of one of said copy sheets to said predetermined position for projecting one of said sales tickets from the device to be accessible for manual withdrawal therefrom, means bordering said writing field for alining and supporting the withdrawn ticket over said field in registering position with said sheet, a cylinder frictionally engaged by said strip, means actuated by said cylinder control-ling the checking extent of feed of the strip in the device, a spring actuated door controlling an opening through which a sales ticket is projected, manually actuated means for moving said door into open position, said table member being pivotally supported in the body part, tension'al means engaging the copy sheet wound on said spool to maintain the sheet in taut position in the device at all times, and means comprising a locked mechanism in the body part operatively engaging the cover part to seal said spool against unauthorized displacement from the device.

A device of the class described comprising an elongated casing formed from a body part of U- shaped cross-sectional form and a cover part forming a closure for the first named part, means U hingedly mounting one end of the cover part to the corresponding end of the body part, the cover part having a large opening forming a writing field therein, a transfer element disposed in said field, a table member in said body part beneath and spaced from said field and element, means within the body part for storing an elongated strip of paper characterized to form a successive series of copy sheets, said strip being adapted to pass between said element and table member, means comprising a spool in one end portion of the body part for winding said sheet to feed succe'ssive copy sheets in predetermined registered position beneath said writing field and element and upon said table member, the body part having means for storing a plurality of independent sales tickets therein, said casing having an opening, through which a ticket is adapted to pass, means actuated by said strip winding means in feed of one of said copy sheets to said predetermined position for projecting one of said sales tickets from the device to be accessible for manual withdrawal therefrom, and said means comprising an elongated strip of flexible friction material rotatably mounted in the body part and operatively engaging the upper surface of the uppermost sales ticket stored therein.

In a device of the class described, employing an elongated relatively narrow casing with a writing field on one surface thereof, a transfer element in said field, a table beneath the element, a spool sealed in said device, in which an elongated copy ticket strip stored in said casing is adapted to be wound, manually actuated means for intermittently actuating the spool to deliver a copy ticket in the field between said element and table, means within the device for storing and frictionally supporting a plurality of individual sales tickets with one end of the sales tickets adjacent one open end of the casing,
means in said end of the casing and arranged above the uppermost sales ticket in said storage and actuated by said first named means for projecting an uppermost ticket through the opening in said end of the casing for accessibility to an operator for manual withdrawal from the device, and means on the device for positioning and holding the withdrawn sales ticket in alinement with said re-positioned copy ticket.
10. In a device of the class described, employ ing an elongated relatively narrow casing with a writing field on one surface thereof, a transfer element in said field, a table beneath the element, a spool sealed in said device, in which an elongated copy ticket strip stored in said casing is adapted to be wound, manually actuated means for intermittently actuating the spool to deliver a copy ticket in the field between said element and table, means within the device for storing and frictionally supporting a plurality of individual sales tickets with one end of the sales tickets adjacent one open end of the casing. means in said end of the casing and arranged above the uppermost sales ticket in said storage and actuated by said first named means for projecting an uppermost ticket through the opening in said end of the casing for accessibility to an operator for manual withdrawal from the device, means on the device for positioning and holding the withdrawn sales ticket in alinement with said re-positioned copy ticket, and said ticket projecting means comprising a transversely arranged elongated fiexible body of friction material rotatably mounted in the device.

In a device of the class described, employing an elongated relatively narrow casing with a writing field on one surface thereof, a transfer element in said field, a table beneath the element, a spool sealed in said device, in which an elongated copy ticket strip stored in said casing is adapted to be wound, manually actuated means for intermittently actuating the spool to deliver a copy ticket in the field between said element and table, means within the device for storing and frictionally supporting a plurality of individual sales tickets with one end of the sales tickets adjacent one open end of the casing, means in said end of the casing and arranged above the uppermost sales ticket in said storage and actuated by said first named means for projecting an uppermost ticket through the opening in said end of the casing for accessibility to an operator for manual withdrawal from the device, means on the device for positioning and holding the withdrawn sales ticket in alinement with said re-positioned copy ticket, said ticket projecting means comprising a transversely arranged elongated flexible body of friction material rotatably mounted in the device, a door closing said opening in the casing, and tensional means for supporting the door in closed position.

In a device of the class described, employing an elongated relatively narrow casing with a writing field on one surface thereof, a transfer element in said field, a table beneath the element, a spool sealed in said device, in which an elongated copy ticket strip stored in said casing is adapted to be wound, manually actuated means for intermittently actuating the spool to deliver a copy ticket in the field between said element and table, means within the device for storing and frictionally supporting a plurality of individual sales tickets with one end of the sales tickets adjacent one open end of the casing, means in said end of the casing and arranged above the uppermost sales ticket in said storage and actuated by said first named means for projecting an uppermost ticket through the opening in said end of the casing for accessibility to an operator for manual withdrawal from the device, means on the device for positioning and holding the withdrawn sales ticket in alinement with said re-positioned copy ticket, said ticket projecting means comprising a transversely arranged elongated flexible body of friction material rotatably mounted in the device, a door closing said opening in the casing, tensional means for supporting the door in closed position, and automatically actuated means for moving the door into opened position in projection of the sales ticket through said opening.

In a device of the class described, employing an elongated relatively narrow casing with a writing field on one surface thereof, a transfer element in said field, a table beneath the element, a spool sealed in said device, in which an e1ongated copy ticket strip stored in said casing is adapted to be wound, manually actuated means for intermittently actuating the spool to deliver a copy ticket in the field between said element and table, means within the device for storing and frictionally supporting a plurality of individual sales tickets with one end of the sales tickets adjacent one open end of the casing, means in said end of the casing and arranged above the uppermost sales ticket in said storage and actuated by said first named means for projecting an uppermost ticket through the opening in said end of the casing for accessibility to an operator for manual withdrawal from the de- 1 vice, means on the device for positioning and holding the withdrawn sales ticket in alinement with said re-positioned copy ticket, and means detachably supporting the spool in the device.
14. In a device of the class described, employing an elongated relatively narrow casing with a writing field on one surface thereof, a transfer element in said field, a table beneath the element, a spool sealed in said device, in which an elongated copy ticket strip stored in said casing is adapted to be wound, manually actuated means for intermittently actuating the spool to deliver a copy ticket in the field between said element and table, means within the device for storing and frictionally supporting a plurality of individual sales tickets with one end of the sales tickets adjacent one open end of the casing, means in said end of the casing and arranged above the uppermost sales ticket in said storage and actuated by said first named means for projecting an uppermost ticket through the opening in said end of the casing for accessibility to an operator for manual withdrawal from the device, means on the device for positioning and holding the withdrawn sales ticket in alinement with said re-positioned copy ticket, means detachably supporting the spool in the device, and said spool.
