This invention relates to attachable pockets or containers of waterproof construction.

This invention has utility when incorporated in a cigarette and match case adapted to be readily attached to and removed from the garment or belt of a bather.

An end wall 9 has an opening I0 therein with a bevel I I thereto from the adjacent side or bottom B. A screw cap I2 fits the internally threaded opening I0 and coacts with a compressible gasket or l seal I3, say of rubber in providing a watertight closure for the pocket. The body 4 remote from the end 9 has an opening I4 into which is presstted and sealed, say by thermosetting or thermoplastic adhesive I5, and end wall I6. When the pocket herein disclosed is used as a cigarette case, it is desirable to provide a roughened or abrasive region I1 on the end I6 as a convenient match scratching means as occasion may arise to light a removed cigarette I8 by a match I9 as the cap I2 is removed and such articles may be shaken to project from the opening I0.

The clip Cast-formed holes 20 are in alignment at interior lugs 2I, 22, adjacent the junction of the side 8 with the top 5 in proximity to the ends of the case. Exterior from these lugs are provided minor seats 23. Ears 25 are provided at the free sides 26 of a U-shaped guide plate having a connecting portion 21 between said ends. The ears 25 may be anchored in the seats by drive screws 24 fastened into the holes 20. The screws 24 provide pivot bearings for the plate 25, 26, with the portion 21 normally spaced somewhat outward from the junction of the bottom` 6 :and the side 8.

The plate portion 21 centrally thereof and between the legs or ends 26, has a fulcrum-providing offset 28 toward the side 8 with a tongue 29 therefrom to free end points 30, as snag or catch means to effect anchoring with apparel or belt 3. The rounding of the bottom 6 and the slight outward flare of the portion 21 combine to provide convenient means for the user readily tol slip the pocket into anchored position.

'I'he pivot pins or mounting screws 24 anchor the ears 25 rather snugly in the seats 23. Should the apparel 3, in sliding the case to a mounting position thereon, tend to spread the base or connecting portion 21 of the clip from the side 8 of the case, there may be slight movement of the ear 25 in the seat 23. However, in practice this additional clearance is cared for by the spring action of the legs 26.

For release of the attached case from the article of apparel, the bather or wearer of the case, may depress the tip of the portion 21 near the rounded portion bottom 6 and theretoward. This action tends to shift the fulcrum offset 28 toward the case to approach co-planar position (Fig. 8) as to the legs 26, with a resulting tilt of the points 30 away from the case and also into the plane of the legs 26. Accordingly, the legs 26 hold the apparel 3 toward the case in effecting complete withdrawal of the points 30 from apparel snagging position. It follows that from this depression of the portion 21, the case, as theretofore rmly attached to the apparel, is now suiciently released therefrom that the clip and case may be upwardly slipped clear thereof.

While the cases may be right-hand and lefthand, in the event there be a left-handed user, the case in mounting may be located inward from the apparel with the clip outwardly exposed. With the bathers accessory adapted for carrying cigarettes, and the mounting being as shown in Fig. 1, the wearer, when the case be out of the water, in the event wading be still in order, may with ones fingers engage the knurled cap I2 to twist it to be clear of the case 4. Then by slightly shaking the case, a match and a cigarette may be brought to exposed position, 'removed therefrom and the closure re-assembled to sealing position with the case. Notwithstanding the case exterior may still be wet, the roughe'ned portion I1 provides an effective scratch region for friction-igniting of the mateh for the smoker.

What is claimed and it is desired to secure by Letters Patent is:

l. A U-shaped spring clip comprising a pair of parallel legs, a connecting portion from Which the legs extend, said legs terminating in offset ears, and a case having seats mounting said ears of the clip for limited swing movement relatively tothe case, said connecting portion having a tongue fulcrumed thereto by an offset-toward the oase with the tongue extending between the legs to a point-carrying free end adapted to snag into apparel passed under the legs along the case and coacting upon depression of the connecting portion toward the case to shift the point-carrying free end clear of theapparel.
